Hi ya, furriends! 

We are so happy to announce that have now joined the Amazon Influencer program!

Yes, Mum and I now have an Amazon Storefront with curated lists of purrmazing cat-themed ideas we're sure cat people will love! 

What is an Amazon Influencer? 

When you join the Amazon Influencer Program you are able to recommend products to your followers and friends and then get paid a small commission when someone purchases from your store.

Is it the same as being an Amazon Associate?

The Amazon Influencer program is for qualifying social media influencers so you will need a qualifying YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook account to join. The Influencer Program also gives you access to additional tools and you can send traffic from social media platforms using your own page (storefront) and vanity URL, which you will receive once you're approved. You will then be able to curate your own lists of recommended products to your followers and earn a commission from anyone shopping through your storefront.

How do I join the Amazon Influencer Program?

Simply go to amazon.co.uk/influencers and complete the qualification process. 

How's Athena and Marie's Amazon Influencer page doing?

So far we are loving it. Mum has been busy choosing many of her favourite items.  She chose products that we use ourselves and other related products that we think will be of interest to you, our friends and followers. So that's mostly cats, but we're not all about cats! Mum has lots of other interests (mmm... I thought she only thought of me) and is loving creating lists for all sorts of stuff. 

I want to reassure you though, that she would never recommend anything she wouldn't consider buying herself and will only list things she likes and has bought and used herself.

As you can see from the following screenshots, most of our recommendations are cat inspired but Mum has included other things in her life that she uses daily or frequently.

And because Mum is an author she has also included her own books. To date, she's written 3 books about cats as well as books in other genres. Plus she has added a list of some great cat book reads by other authors too! 

You can check out our cat food and toys recommendations too, which is the most important of all!

Before we show you our photo art for this weekend, we wanted to tell you about a great competition for all you artsy creative types.

Sustainable Cat Bed Design Contest

Tuft and Paw are looking for a new way to think about furniture that helps cats, humans, and the Earth.

If you think you've got a great design idea for a sustainable cat bed then get your entry in now and you could win $1,500!

The winning design will be produced in the U.S. and promoted as one of Tuft + Paw’s new flagship products and will also be donated to shelters across the country.

Submissions deadline is October 31st 2017.

The winner will be decided on November 30th 2017. 

Competition Details

Create an original design for cat furniture that meets the below criteria.

1. It's sustainable

As part of Tuft + Paw’s commitment to environmentally responsible products, it must be made of ethically sourced and produced materials that don't harm our planet.

2. It's affordable

When your piece goes into production, we want it to be inexpensive enough that any cat owner can have it in his or her home.

3. It's beautiful

Don’t skimp on style- we want to see something that adds a “wow” factor to modern homes and looks more like it belongs to an interior designer than a Tabby cat.

4. It's easy to ship

We want your design to be our customers’ go-to choice when they donate an item to a shelter. This means it has to be lightweight and easy to ship. Bonus points for collapsible flat-pack shapes.

5. It's practical

Along with your physical prototype, give us technical drawings that specify exact dimensions and instructions for how it will be produced. Good luck!

Cat Treats from Flamingo Miniz. These tasty little treats are the purrfect reward for your kitty. They are fish flavoured, and I am not a kitty who likes fish. But I did taste them a bit. What's nice about them is their soft texture.

Trixie Treat Stick Quintett I preferred these treats because they are chicken flavour (my fave) and have a high meat content. Purrfect for us carnivores!

Please Mum, Can I have some more?

Trixie Litter Mat Mum likes this mat and says it's great for picking up all the litter that I kick about as I do my toilet business. She is getting so fed up with having to sweep up after me, especially now as she has to keep the house extra clean for the viewers we are getting for the house sale because we are planning to move soon.

Spider Toy with Catnip Cute little thing, isn't he? I've given him the name Mr Purply Spidy Catnip. Mum thinks he will come in useful for helping her cure her spider phobia. I told her to just picture spiders looking funny like him and not black and scary hairy. That should soon do the trick! Though I really don't understand why she's so terrified of them. I think they're great and I love to chase them.

UFO Toy Looks like a kiddy toy. Not sure what cats are supposed to do with it. You can see in my video that I am a bit confused. I tried to pull the ball out and got my claw stuck so, in the end, I just swung it off the table, which made Mum LOL 😻

Ball and feather toy This is cool. The feather is attached to this rather nice ball.  It's a great little toy to distract and entertain an indoor cat like me. I do have quite a lot of balls and feather toys.

And of course, the box was amazing too and I loved the paw print tissue paper. Mum made a ball out of it and we played around with it a bit. She threw it around the room and I chased it. It was really fun!

Purrfect Box contacted Mum and asked if we would be interested in a free subscription box to review and I'm so glad she said yes!

Luckily, Mum couldn't wait to open the box either and so she quickly cleared the table and placed the box on it because she wanted to get as much light for the photo and video shoot. Yeah, more work for me! I am an aspiring cat model, after all, and frankly why am I not already at the top of my career? I am five years old. Getting a little old maybe? Anyway, as soon as Mum opened the pretty box and unwrapped the cute paw print paper (which makes a quite an awesome noise) I was in there like a shot!

This guy's almost as big as me.

Oh, wow!

And this busy bee smells divine too, though Mum thought not.

Some fun toys to play with

Marie: Athena loved this box and became excited the moment she saw it. She really couldn't wait for me to open it as she already knew there was catnip in the box. I think her favourite thing in the box was the Jolly Moggy catnip fish toy, as you can see. She had a lot of fun with it and it made me laugh watching my fur baby enjoying herself.

Wordless Wednesday: Enjoying Kitty Grass

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

I love cat grass and here I am enjoying this one from VitaKraft. It's the one Mum always buys for me and she buys it from Amazon (£14.94 for pack of 6). It's a grow your own grass kit and it contains selected highly germinable special seeds that are good for your cat's health, especially for indoor cats like me. Mum grows it indoors and it only takes a few days to grow. I really love it!

Why is grass good for cats?

Cat grass contains high levels of vitamins, minerals and chlorophyll and also helps with digestion. It contains folic acid, which is an essential vitamin for cats (and humans!), assisting in the production of hemoglobin, which is the protein that moves oxygen around in the blood. Mum buys her own version for humans - Naturya Organic Wheatgrass Powder 200 g Nutritional Power Food Pouch - because she does tend to be anaemic sometimes.

Why do cats sometimes thow up after ingesting cat grass?

Sometimes cats do regurgitate when they eat grass because they lack the necessary enzymes to break down vegetable matter. This actually helps eliminate all the indigestibles like hairballs from the cat's digestive tract. Also, being a natural laxative, grass helps cats get rid of those troublesome hairballs from the other end too! And we cats know how much better we feel after ridding ourselves of those!
