It's too cold and wet to go out in my catio so I'm watching the rain and hoping for some birdie TV through the window.

3. I need to figure out why Mum doesn't sing anymore. Actually, I know but I can't think of anything to add here. What I do believe is that she needs to get back to singing in order to release the pent up anger and pain. She can't cry. 

4. I may not show it, but I know I am beautiful. Actually, I do show it and know it. But sometimes I can also be a really nutty crazy cat that makes Mum laugh. I love doing that!

Happy Caturday!

I spend most of my time in my Mum's bedroom/office. It's my room too. I have lots of my stuff in here. My PetFusion scratcher is right next to the bed. I also sleep on the bed with Mum and under the bed by myself.

I have lots of room to run and play, window sill to sit and watch some great birdie TV. I can even watch the birdies whilst laying on the bed. I have a great view of all my kingdom and I can have a nosy on the neighbours and other furries. So far I have spotted many dogs walking by with their humans on their way to the woods. I've also seen a couple of neighbour's cats walking in the road. They better keep their distance or else!

1. When I can’t achieve a dream/goal, I get very depressed and feel worthless. I've failed in so many of my endeavours. I'm sick of trying to be honest. If I can just be a stay-at-home cat mum and not have to worry about earning a living I'd be so much happier.

2. Bring back cat worship. I'm happy to worship. Everyone should worship cats. Cats rule. And I want Larry the Cat to be Prime Minister. 

3. I’m embarrassed to say that I am a nervous wreck when I go out. I just get over-anxious and then it's sensory overload time. I've always been an anxious person (well, since my teens, anyway) but I've been getting worse over the last ten years. I'm also phobic of germs. I know I shouldn't be embarrassed because so many others go through similar issues and it's nothing to be ashamed about. I'm not really, just in front of "normal" people I am.

4. I feel like taking care of Athena and my love for animals and my animal rights advocacy gives my life meaning.

ATHENA

1. When I can’t get Mum to do what I want, I get frustrated and start pounding my paws on the wardrobe door or if downstairs I get up on the sideboard and do the same with the pictures hanging on the wall.

2. Bring back the worshipping of cats. OK, some of you already worship us but the whole world should be doing that too. There will be love and purry peace always if everyone did that.

3. I’m embarrassed to say that I... Actually, no embarrassment whatsover here :)

4. I feel like taking care of Mum gives my life meaning. I love her.

Athena On Her Cat Tree Scratching Post #SundaySelfie

Sorry for the blurriness of this selfie. It came out dark so Mum had to make some adjustments in the edits to make it lighter. I was on my cat tree scratching post looking outside before evening fell and Mum was on the sofa watching TV. As usual, I was being a bit naughty trying to snatch the attention from that silly box in the corner where people seem to do nothing but shout all the time (that's British soaps for you, especially the Cockney one, i.e, EastEnders). Yeah, I've noticed they shout much more in that one than the others. Maybe we Londoners are just louder? I mean human Londoners. Maybe it's because they have to shout over all that road traffic to be heard? Mum says that since we now live in Essex we are ex-Londoners. Anyway, why am I going on about this?

Back to my blog.

So there I am on top of the scratching post/tree trying to get Mum to pay me more attention. I was trying to make her get up off her bum to go into the kitchen and bring out those treats I love so much. The ones that are supposed to be good for my teeth. I love them! They are so yummy. But Mum says she doesn't want to give me too many treats because I'm putting on weight. What? Hasn't she looked in the mirror lately?

Love you, Mum! 💖I hope you've ordered some more of those treats because I've noticed we are running out 😻

Top 10 Must-Haves for Indoor Cats

Mum wants to tell you all about these must-have items that will help to keep your indoor cats safe and happy all year round. January can be a boring month for both indoors and outdoor cats, so here is Mum to give you some ideas of what to buy your feline friend this month to get them sorted for the whole year and beyond!

Athena has most of these but I've chosen a few items I am thinking of purchasing in the near future. Of course, it goes without saying that you will also need a litter tray or two, depending on how many cats you have so I won't be mentioning these items here.

Instead, these must-haves are also important as they will help keep your beloved feline happy, healthy and contented,

I work from home, so I am always keeping Athena company. If I didn't I would be off to rescue another cat to keep her company as well (though how she'd react I don't know as she's used to being an only kitty).

Anyway on to our Must-Haves list...

1. Cat Scratcher/Lounger

Athena absolutely loves her PetFusion Ultimate Cat Scratcher Lounge and to my delight (and my mother's) it has stopped her scratching the sofa and wallpaper. If only I bought it ages ago! I like it so much that once we move to our new house I will get her another one.

2. Water Fountain

I don't actually have one of these for Athena as I'm never out of the house for long so there isn't a problem keeping her water fresh and always available (from a mug because that's what the goddess wants!) However, this would be great if you are out of the house for long hours or at work as you can ensure that plenty of fresh drinking water for your pet is available at all times of the day or night.

3. Automatic Pet Feeder

Athena loves kitty grass and I love that I can purchase Vitakraft Cat Grass 120 g (Pack of 6) at a reasonable price! Cat grass is great for your cat's digestion as it adds roughage to the diet as well as helping to prevent hairballs in the stomach. It also adds essential vitamins and minerals to the cat's diet.

7. Cat Multilevel Cat tree

 Cats need to climb and scratch so this Cozy Pet Deluxe Multi Level Cat Tree Scratcher Activity Centre Scratching Post looks purrfect!  I don't actually own this particular tree. Athena's tree/scratching post in the main photo at the top of this post comes from Zooplus. She's posed on it many times for this blog!

10. Exercise Wheel

A bit pricey maybe but I thought I'd include it here anyway because I believe it to be a fun product and if I could afford it (and if I had space) I would certainly consider it. However, the Cat in Motion in anthracite - Running wheel for cats would probably only impress Athena for a day or two as she does tire of most things quickly.I could do with something like this myself, but obviously, it's too small for a 5ft 7in human!

So that's ten must-haves for your indoor kitty that will help ensure that they get adequate exercise and keep the boredom from setting in. There are also many cat toys out there that I'm sure your little darling will appreciate.

Athena has loads of toys - from feather fishing rod types to all sorts of balls and catnip filled toys. The thing is, she gets bored easily (takes after me!) and in the end, all it takes to keep her happy and playful is a new box, paper bag, or any old ribbon that I might pull along the floor for her, mimicking prey which really thrills her. Oh, and she loves laundry/clothes pegs!
