Caturday Art

Happy Caturday!

Here are a couple of fun photos today. We were on Mum's bed and she picked up her camera and started snapping away while I sniffed her foot and hand. She took photos of me cleaning myself too, and no doubt one or two of these may appear on this blog one day soon. I then proceeded to mark her with my scent as cats do to own their human.

As these are fun photos Mum decided to use the BeFunky cartoon filter to create this rather cool effect.

Charity Tuesday

As you know, I was rescued by Wood Green, the Animal Charity. I found a lovely forever home with Mum and want to help other rescue cats from the same charity find their forever home too. Disclaimer: We are not affiliated with the charity in any way. We just want to help spread the word for animals in need.

Joey is a friendly and affectionate boy. He does love to curl up on your bed and enjoys lots of fuss - on his terms of course! He is a very playful chap too. Joey needs a confident, experienced cat-owner who can read his body-language. Please click HERE for more information.

Molly is an older, friendly girl who enjoys human company and loves to welcome you when you get home, although she is also independent and perfectly capable of looking after herself. A traditional cat, Molly likes both an indoor and outdoor life. Find out more about her HERE

Molly (photo credit: Wood Green)

Tamarind and is an adventurous young lady who likes to be involved in all things as she is so curious and inquisitive. She also enjoys a snuggle after a long, tiring day. She would like a forever home with older children and/or a quiet household. Find out more about her HERE

Happy Monday!

Has it snowed where you are today?

It hasn't snowed in London yet, though it's cold enough to do so. We don't get much snow here anyway, so I've never had the chance to go out and play in it like these guys.

Caturday Art

Before I show you the art for this week's Caturday Art Blog Hop I'd like to thank you all for your comments on our last post. I am feeling better now, but Mum has been trying to make me eat wet food and I haven't eaten that since I was a kitten. I just won't touch it!

She has been trying to switch my food for ages. She tells me she is doing it for my own good because dry food isn't healthy to eat all the time. She thinks that's why I had the urinary problem the other day.

What do you furry friends eat? Do you prefer dry to wet? Does your human make you eat things you don't like?

We didn't have time to do much 'art' with this photo. It is quite simple. Mum just created it using her old favourite Pixlr

In this photo I was napping on Mum's lap yesterday morning while she was giving me Reiki. She added the green light because this is a healing colour and it's the one she pictures in her mind flowing from her hands as she does the healing.

Had to go to the vet

Sorry we didn't publish our regular Melt Your Heart Monday post yesterday, but I wasn't feeling well and Mum had to take me to the vet.

I kept wanting to pee in the litter tray but only a tiny amount would come out. Mum got worried when I vomitted a bit and had a bit of runny poo as well. Well, she called the vet and then took me there that morning. That didn't help because I was stressed and Mum was stressed, so you can imagine the stress feeding off us both. I'm a cat, and so I'm sensitive, but then so is Mum. Far too sensitive so I suppose she was a cat in a past life or something.

Anyway, we got there, and I won't describe what he did, but he said it's probably stress-related and I had a urine tract infection or something like that. Mum was suspicious of the booster vaccine that he gave me last week and asked if it could be a reaction to that. Of course he said no, it wasn't. But Mum can't help wondering if it was indeed the vaccine because I had been fine up to that point.

He said perhaps the fireworks in the neighbourhood may have caused me to feel nervous and anxious. Mum said I hadn't shown any signs of being scared of them. Some cats might not show any outward signs, the vet said to her, but they can still be bothered by all the loud noise.

Mum thinks the stress of going to the vets and hearing those dogs barking really stressed me out last week, so maybe there is some truth that it could be stress-related.

We don't know, but today I am pleased to report that I urinated in my litter tray as normal and I still want to eat a lot, though Mum won't give me that much food any more as I need to lose some weight the vet said.

Has anything like this happened to any of you, furry friends?

Sunday Selfie

Happy Sunday!

Today's Sunday Selfie comes from my Instagram account.
A photo posted by Athena (@athenawisekitty) on
Also, Mum said we should share this video of me because it's funny. What's so funny about it? She says my eyes look massive, and this to her seems funny. Well, it made her smile so that's fine by me. Can you guess what I'm doing?

Happy Caturday!

Here is what Mum's created for this week's Caturday Art using BeFunky again. She's given me a kind of vintage look with a grunge frame, which is fine by me. I like it!

Wordless Wednesday: Bonfire Night

cats and fireworks

It's that time of the year again. Bofire Night. Also known as Guy Fawkes Night.

I have to say that fireworks don't bother me. In fact, sometimes I like to watch them from behind the safety of a window. Besides, I am always safe and sound indoors with Mum, and she doesn't care to celebrate such nonsense. But to all those cats and animals out there who have to endure it, you do have my sympathy.

We don't have anything against people wanting to have fun, but we would like them to be more considerate and keep the exploding fireworks to the actual day you are meant to be celebrating. That is, 5th November. Not before - or after. And certainly not weeks before and weeks after.

Mum tells me it's not like it was in her day. These days fireworks are going off all over the place at all hours and weeks before and after Bonfire Night. We can only imagine how scary it must be for any animal stuck outside during fireworks season. Sometimes it sounds like a war zone out there.

And really, why do humans always have to make so much noise in order to have 'fun'?

Here is a fireworks safety video for felines. Advice for other pets can be found HERE

I thought I'd also tell you that I'm not that afraid of the vacuum cleaner either, as you can see from our latest video. I like to watch Mum cleaning! I always like to be part of the action and telling Mum she's missed a bit :)

Adopt a Cat #CharityTuesday

As a rescue kitty I want to help other rescue cats find their forever homes, so we are continuing our new weekly feature for Charity Tuesday, sharing adoptable cats from Wood Green, the Animal Charity (which is where I was rescued). We are so grateful to this amazing charity because without them, well, we wouldn't be here! It's one of the charities we support.

We are not affiliated with the charity in any way, we just want to do our bit to help animals. Mum also does a cat rescue post on Mondays, featuring many other animal charities. You can visit her blog HERE.

Here are 3 wonderful cats waitng to be adopted by some lucky people.

Fred (photo courtesy of Wood Green)

Fred is a handsome older guy who was sadly abandoned. He is a very friendly loving man and enjoys receiving lots of attention. He is looking for a loving new home where he can be loved and adored as he so deserves. Click HERE to find out more about him.

Jerry(Photo courtesy of Wood Green)
Meet the gorgeous 9 year old Jerry. He came in as a stray and is finding life at the centre a little overwhelming. He is a sweet, affectionate cat once he gets to know you. If you would like to know more about him click HERE.

Silky(photo courtesy of Wood Green)
Silky is looking for a home where she can chill out and do her own thing. She is 8 years old and would love a calm home. She also enjoys sitting on your lap and likes to play with fishing rod toys. Click HERE if you're interested in adopting her.

Sunday Selfie Fun

Happy Sunday!

We have a fun Sunday Selfie for you today. From time to time I like to leap onto my Mum's back when she's least suspecting. I haven't done it for a while, but yesterday I couldn't resist. I was hiding from her you see (I like to play hide n seek), and so she came into the room calling my name. I stayed hid for a while and when she bent over to look under the table, I took my chance and leapt from behind the sofa onto her back. I haven't done it for a while, but it made her laugh a lot, even though I'm quite a heavy cat now. I'm glad it made her laugh because she does get sad a lot.

Sorry for the blurry photos, but Mum had to quickly snap these on her iPhone before I leapt off again.

What do you do to make your human laugh?
