New Mousie!

I have a new mousie toy. As you can see it co-ordinates nicely with my colouring and the cushions behind me.

The thing is, I am too tired to play right now.

I appreciate the thought, Mum, but can we play later? A goddess needs her rest, after all.

Tiger Tuesday - Sumatran Tiger

Mum always calls me her "little tiger" and she loves all cats, big and small, so when we were approached by Whiskas.co.uk to help in their “Help Protect A Tiger”campaign how could we refuse?

Today is the first Tiger Tuesday of the campaign, in which each week Whiskas and the WWF shine a light on one of the endangered tiger subspecies to help raise awareness around the plight of tigers in the wild.

So today on this first Tiger Tuesday we are showing our support for the endangered Sumatran tiger.

Sumatran Tiger

The Sumatran tiger is the last surviving tiger subspecies in Indonesia and the smallest of the 6 tiger subspecies: the other two native tiger subspecies, the Bali and Javan, became extinct in the 1940s and 1970s respectively.

With less than 400 individuals holding on for survival in the few remaining patches of forests on the island of Sumatra, they are still under immediate threat from poaching and habitat loss.

From 1998-2002 at least 51 Sumatran tigers per year were killed, with 76% for the illegal wildlife trade and 15% due to human-tiger conflict. (Source: Shepherd and Magnus 2004 IUCN RedList)

At least 66 Sumatran tigers – one seventh of the surviving population – were killed in one year between 1998 and 1999. (Source: Nowell (2000) Far from a Cure: The Tiger Trade Revisited TRAFFIC)

The new Whiskas “Help Protect A Tiger” TV advert features two Sumatran tiger cubs, called Argo and Dhjala. They were born in February this year and were 2 and a half months old when the advert was filmed.

You can view the Whiskas “Help Protect A Tiger” TV advert here:

Argo and Dhjala currently live at Champrépus Zoo in France with their mother, Chandra, and you can read more about them on the zoo website:

Other ways you can help:

Purchase a special Help Protect A Tiger pack of Whiskas
New packs supporting WWF are now in stores across the UK! Each pack purchased will help to raise £500,000 for WWF's Tigers Alive initiative, which aims to double the number of tigers in the wild by 2022 - the next Chinese Year of the Tiger.

If you buy any of these packs for your cat, be sure to share a photo with the #ProtectATiger hashtag.

Become a Catservationist
Visit www.whiskas.co.uk/WWF/Catservation and upload your cat's photo to one of the 11 tiger territory maps. For every cat photo that is added, Whiskas will donate £1 to WWF's Tiger's Alive Initiative. Don't forget to share your picture once it's uploaded to help spread the word and encourage lots of other kitties to join the Catservation cause!

Text to Donate
You can donate £1 to WWF simply by texting TIGER to 70123. More information is here: http://bit.ly/TextWWF

Adopt A Wild Tiger
For a small monthly donation you can adopt Kamrita, one of 120 Bengal tigers left in Nepal.

So, come on my furry pals and your lovely humans, let's join together to help our big cousins!

My Gotcha Day!

That's right. Today it's been exactly two years since I was adopted by my mum Marie. It doesn't seem that long ago but it has been amazing because, though it may seem like she rescued me, in actual fact we rescued each other.

Mum wrote about this in her memoir The Cat Years and in this blog post, and I wrote about it in my new book A Forever Home for Athena.

Here are some pics of me on my first day in my new home.

Caturday Art

cat old style photo in black and white

Mum hasn't had much time to be arty lately so she did this pretty quickly with an online photo editor.

She took the picture this morning when I was looking out of our bedroom window. I turned around and there she was with her new camera again. Luckily there is no flashy box thingy with this one like the old one (or she doesn't need to use it).

I like this camera better!

Happy Caturday!

The World According to Bob

Cat reading Streecat Bob

I love Streetcat Bob and so does my mum (as well as so many people all over the world) so here I am posing with his latest book The World According To Bob.  Isn't he just so handsome?

Mum read this book, and just like with the first, A Streetcat Named Bob, she had tears in her eyes. I hope she wasn't too sad, because she told me there were some fun stories in this book and not just sad ones.
I suppose she cried because she was thinking about our love for one another. We do have a very strong bond, as you can probably tell.

Anyway, Mum has published a review of the book on her blog so go and read it if you're interested.

Super Sweet Blogging Award

Mum and I would like to thank The Cat On My Head. for the Super Sweet Blogging Award.

We do appreciate it!

However, though we love being nominated for such lovely awards, we find it quite stressful to keep up with participating fully with the rest of it, such as finding bloggers to nominate and writing up the answers, etc. Mum finds it hard to keep her two blogs running as it is.

I hope you all understand :)

CatGoddessDesigns

Mum and I have been busy designing products for our CatGoddessDesigns store. Well, in truth Mum is the designer and I am her model and muse, but that's OK, isn't it? It's what we cats are good at, among other things.

So here you are, check out some of our fab designs:

Easy Like Sunday

It's too hot today and I don't like it.

Best thing I can do is sleep it all away and hope it'll cool down later.

Enjoy your Easy Sunday, whatever the weather!
