Sleepy Tabby #caturdayart

Happy Caturday!

As we already posted our Easter art last Caturday, here's an arty pic of me being interrupted from my nap by Mum and her iPhone!

Caturday Art

The art above was created using the SuperPhoto app paint effect and finished off with the Grunge frame from BeFunky.

Happy Easter!

If you saw last week's Caturday Art (and if you didn't, why not?), there were 3 versions of an Easter card posted, but here is our favourite one!

A Thousand Purring Cats #BookReview

Disclaimer: We received a free digital copy of the book from the author. All words are our own. Please also note that some links are Amazon affiliate links.

A THOUSAND PURRING CATS by Susan "Sparky" Kedzie

A Thousand Purring Cats

From Amazon

"A Thousand Purring Cats warmly embraces the healing power of positive relationships. Playful text and images invite smiles and laughter with a surprise tug at your heart, while lively characters gently nudge your child closer when they need it most.

A new feel-good classic your family will want to read and reread for years. Whether you are a cat-lover or not, this book will give you a HUG!"

What did we think?

Here's Mum to tell you!

This beautiful little book is full of breathtaking illustrations that will shower any child with immense healing whenever it is needed, because, let's face it, life can be tough at any age.

Not only are the illustrations, which were inspired by the author's own cats, mesmerizing, but the healing text messages accompanying them are incredibly soothing and will work wonders when needed.  As we cat lovers already acknowledge, cats have amazing healing capabilities. They can help decrease blood pressure and to reduce anxiety, amongst other things. Indeed, Athena does all that for me and so much more.

This lovely book is literally, a big "hug" for any child to turn to when they find life overwhelming,  but it's a lovely book for adults too.

It certainly cheered me up this morning!

If you want to read a book that celebrates the amazing love and power of emotional bonds between pets and humans, then don't miss this book! And if you don't have a cat, the book "nudges" you to accept loving hugs from your favourite human too.

This is definitely one of those books children and even adults will want to pick up time and time again.

Adopt a Cat this #charitytuesday

Here are two rescue kitties who are awaiting forever homes at Wood Green The Animals Charity (our favourite animal charity because that's where Mum came to adopt me.)

TETLEY

Photo: Wood Green The Animals Charity

Tetley and his brother Dizzy (below) were taken in at the Wood Green Heydon centre after their owner sadly passed away. These handsome boys are both really friendly and affectionate. Tetley being the slightly more shy one of the two. Both like to spend time on the sofa in the warmth and also enjoy time outside. They are also partial to a piece ham as a special treat.

Funny Sunday Selfie and Friendly Fill-Ins

This selfie isn't up to my usual standard, I know, but Mum is so busy she is finding it hard to keep up. Pile on the added stress of moving house, her head is all over the place at the moment. To help ease the stress she does a bit of yoga. She tries to yoga at least once a week and here I am wanting to participate (note the naughty kitty scratch marks on the yoga mat.) 😻

Early Easter & Clocks go Forward #CaturdayArt

Happy Caturday!

As Easter is earlier this year we're posting our Easter art this weekend instead of the next.

As you can see from my photo below, I am dreaming of a baby chick. As Mum doesn't eat meat or dairy she really isn't too happy to see this and is really feeling sorry for the little chick. Luckily for me, she understands that I'm a carnivore and can't help it. 😻

British Summer Time

Don't forget that if you live in Europe the clocks go forward tonight as British  Summer Time begins.

Mum is already complaining that there is too much daylight already. She is not a fan of the days getting longer. Honestly, Mum, you always complain but I love you and wouldn't change you for anything πŸ˜½πŸ’š

Daylight saving time in Europe will begin at 01:00 on

2. When I am angry, I try to remain calm but it's hard as I do have a fiery temper.
3. Today, I know for sure I will be calmer because it's Sunday
4. For St. Patrick’s day, I did the same as any other day

Athena...
1. When I am nervous, I hide or start meowing for attention (and food!)
2. When I am angry, I scratch the furniture or attack Mum's feet and bite playfully.
3. Today, I know for sure it'll be a better day because it's Sunday.
4. For St. Patrick’s day, I looked after Mum because she was sad.

Kitty Karma #BookReview

This post contains Amazon affiliate links. In full disclosure, we received a free copy of this book for review but opinions are our own.

Kitty Karma Book Review

😻

We were so excited to receive Kitty Karma: Big Stories of Small Cats Who Change Our Lives for reading and review!

From the Kitty Karma website:

"Kitty Karma: Big Stories of the Small Cats Who Change Our Lives is a collaborative book with stories donated by cat rescue workers, cat sanctuary and shelter volunteers, feral colony caretakers, conscious vets, compassionate cat cafΓ© owners, amazing fosters and awesome cat parents from around the world.

From cats sailing in high seas off the coasts of New Zealand and Mexico to a cat sanctuary in a war zone, from a popular cat cafΓ© in Kingston, Canada to the first cat cafΓ© in India, from adventure cats to feral colonies, this heart-warming and heart-rending collection unveils a world of cats rarely seen and rarely known.

Our remarkable editorial contributors include helpers dedicated to saving the lives of cats, multi-award authors, animal communicators and devoted parents who love their fur babies fiercely and passionately. What unites this diverse group of writers? Very simply, a fierce and passionate love for cats. "

Wai-Lin Terry, the creator of Kitty Karma started the Kitty Karma Books publishing company in honour of her beautiful beloved calico cat, Kealani, who crossed the bridge at just over 17 years old of a sudden heart-attack right before her very eyes.

Understandably, this sudden loss was devastating for Wai-Lin and she couldn’t stop crying for weeks. But to help her cope with the shock and pain of her loss, she went online and began reading cat forums and trawling cat websites and blogs. The shared experiences of other cat lovers and owners inspired her to put such stories in a book and so Project Kitty Karma was born with its mission to help raise funds and improve the lives of many cats and kittens.

"I believe that cats are a superior species and need to be given appropriate veneration and adulation," says Wai-Lin. "They bless us when they favour us with their attention and the world is a better place when there is a cat at home and cat fur on our clothes."

And who can argue with that? Not us cat lovers that's for sure. We are undoubtedly blessed to have these beautiful furry soulmates in our lives. They not only give us unconditional love, but they help us live a better life in so many ways.

This book is packed full of heartwarming, heartbreaking, moving stories about cats and their humans and also includes beautiful photos. Flicking through the book before I began reading, I couldn't wait to meet these gorgeous felines. I just knew their stories would be remarkable and would touch me profoundly.

Kitty Karma Book Review

And as soon as I began reading I found myself swept away on a rollercoaster of emotions. I smiled, I cried, I empathised and I fell a little in love with all the beautiful felines. (Don't worry, Athena - you will always be my NO 1.)

I admit that some stories were just too painful to read and truly tore at my heart. What some animals have to endure at the hands of some humans is just unbearable to think about. I wish I could help all the cats in the world (and all animals really.) But I am one woman and am doing my best. However what this book conveys is that each one of us can do it in our own small way. One step at a time. If all animal lovers on this planet took a little time out to help animals then how incredible would that be? Indeed, if you do buy this book you will be helping in your own special way as all net proceeds from the sales of Kitty Karma will be donated to needy cat shelters, rescues and sanctuaries around the world.

This is a book every cat lover should have on their bookshelf and I highly recommend it!

What's your verdict, Athena?

Adopt Don't Shop this #CharityTuesday

BADGER

Photo: Wood Green The Animals Charity
Badger, 6, ended up at Wood Green The Animals Charity as a scruffy stray with a ravenous appetite! This is one super affectionate boy with a strong desire to love you! πŸ’“He is a lot like me in the way that  he's a bit of an attention seeker, wanting to spend all his time upon laps. He enjoyes playing with a feather toy and cat nip toys. He also loves fuss and cuddles, though he will need to take some time to get to know and trust you, and establish a bond with you. He can have his moments though, so he needs a confident human! Badger has some special dietary requirements that need to be followed. If you are interested in rehoming him please visit his profile HERE.

😻

As usual, we are joining our friends at The Cat on My Head for their weekly Sunday Selfies Blog Hop.

And we're also joining McGuffy's Reader and 15andMeowing's Friendly Fill-Ins. I've been telling Mum for ages I would like to play, but as usual, she either forgets or is too busy to bother.

Here are this week’s four sentences with blanks that Mum and I will fill-in so you can get to know a little bit more about us!

1..Before you ________________, you need to ________________.
2. After ______________________________.
3. Winter                          .
4. Spring                           .

Mum Marie's answers:

1. Before you get up in the morning, you need to pet, stroke, kiss and hug your cat (at least I do because we sleep together and she's the first thing I see every morning.)
2. After dinner, I get lazy and sit around watching the British soaps on TV. My brain needs a rest from all that blogging, tweeting, promoting, reading and writing.
3. Winter is beautiful and more inspiring than summer.
4. Spring is beautiful too but I don't look forward to it because it means summer is coming and I can't stand the heat and too much sunlight (yeah, maybe I'm a vampire.)

Athena's answers:

1. Before you feed me you need to make sure you give me more than that tiny portion you've been giving me lately (I'm not fat!)
2. After going to the toilet for a number two I ONLY want YOU to clear the litter tray. No one else. Not even Gran. I feel that as my mother you should be doing it. It means you're the only one I trust wholeheartedly, so take it as a compliment, dear Mother :) xx
3. Winter is too cold.
4. Spring means a lot more Bird TV is available!

Caturday Art: Mother's Day UK

**This post contains some affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase via these links.

Tomorrow we celebrate Mother's Day in the UK, so for Caturday Art today, we've created this lovely design πŸ’š
Caturday Art Mother's Day UK

Mum used a mix of online editors LunaPic, BeFunky, FotoJet and Fotor to create the above. I think it's lovely 😻

Other news:

We recently set up a REDBUBBLE store and Mum has started designing some cat-themed products for it (featuring me of course!)

Not much for sale yet as Mum is busy with her other work and stuff with the house move (yeah, still more delays), but she did help me design these sweet Mother's Day cards. One for her and one for my lovely Granny.

MARBLES

Marbles: (Photo:Wood Green The Animals Charity)

This is Marbles, a very pretty 9-year-old lady who is looking for a new home. Marbles likes nothing more than to have a warm and cosy place to curl up in and have a snooze. She does like a fuss but on her own terms. She enjoys llittle mini adventures outside too but always looks forward to returning home when it is time for tea. Marbles is at the Godmanchester centre and is hoping to find her forever home soon.
