Happy New Year!

We'd like to wish you all a great new year. We'd also like to thank you all for being our friends and commenting on our blog. This past year we have made some amazing new friends and we appreciate each and every one of you that visit and comment. We also appreciate those of you who join our Caturday Art Blog Hop every week, because without you it wouldn't exist. Every weekend we look forward to seeing what fab creations you come up with.

Hope you continue to visit us because we have some fun new ideas for 2015!

Just for fun we are sharing these two outtakes. This is what happens when I'm not in the mood for photos! It's not like my mum wants to make me suffer, it's just that I don't like the bleeping sound of the self-timer on her big camera.

Have you found out if you can silence it yet, Mum? Read the manual!

Melt Your Heart Monday

Morning all!

Bet you can't stop yawning while watching this cute cat video. Not because it's a boring one (when are we cats ever boring?), but this is a compilation of many cats yawning and we all know how contagious it is, don't we? :)

Caturday Art

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and all my furry friends got just you wanted from Santa this year.

I had a nice quiet time with my mum and Granny. We took some photos, which we will share with you over the next few days.

For this weekend's Caturday Art  Mum used Pixlr, which has these new and rather colourful seasonal effects which she just fell in love with!

Happy Caturday!

Please Don't Give Your Cat These Foods!

You humans are so looking forward to Christmas aren't you? You just can't wait for all the festivities and fun to start (some of you have already started, I know).

Those over indulgences and excesses.

Oh, why do you do it? WHY?

Ok, enough of the lecture.

This is a reminder that the following foods must never be given to cats on Christmas Day (and any other day for that matter).

  • Raisins
  • Grapes
  • Chocolate
  • Nuts
  • Turkey bones
  • Garlic
  • Onions
  • Alcohol!

Always be sure to read the ingredients of everything before you let it go anywhere near your cat as it may contain the above and can be very toxic to your furry friends and babies!

For example, mince pies contain raisins and they are definitely not good for your cat!

As for alcohol - we don't know why anyone would ever give any to a cat or any pet (Mum says it's animal cruelty), but it can happen. For example, if under the influence of the demon drink a human may think it funny to give to a cat. Or  maybe kitty himself, curious as he is, may want to see what all the fuss is about. And really, would any cat be dumb enough to do that? Mmmm... I don't know. Maybe. Personally, the stink of alcohol makes me want to puke. When Mum is drinking wine I really don't want any kisses from her!

But anyway, Athena the wise kitty, named after the dear wise Goddess, says never touch alcohol! Oh, I wish my mum wouldn't, I can tell you!

Have a fabulous holiday, whatever you are doing. And if you are having a quiet one with your pets (like Mum and I), enjoy the peace and quiet and the chance to have extra snuggles on the sofa.

Love and purrs xx

We leave you with this video from the cat daddy himself, Jackson Galaxy.

Melt Your Heart Monday Christmas Special

Hope you are enjoying your Monday and it's not too hectic for you. It probably isn't for my furry friends but I bet it is for your humans! Why do they do it, hey? All that rushing around. Personally I don't need the stress. That's one reason it's just great to be a cat!

Anyway, as it's Christmas, here are three videos for you and your humans to enjoy. Hope they take a moment to watch with you.

ENJOY!

First up, some cute little kittens...

Next, this cute and funny video for all animal lovers...

And finally, this sweet and heartwarming animation that Mum found after searching for "cats singing Last Christmas".

Caturday Art

Happy Caturday!

It's been a busy week for Mum and so she makes her apologies for having to cheat by using PhotoFunia to create this. But I think she didn't really cheat because she at least customized it a bit on Picmonkey.

Mum says she would also like to apologize for not visiting and commenting on many of your blogs this week as she has been busy with the edits on her new book and also on the cover.

Here is a sneak preview.

What does your pet's voice sound like?

As an animal (and a super wise cat goddess), I can communicate telepathically with my mum and that's how she hears me back. Sometimes it's hard breaking through her clouded mind but she is very good at hearing me and so I get my needs met all the time, even if there is a slight delay getting the message across. This usually happens when Mum is having one of her off days.

Mum likes to call the voice that speaks to her from my eyes the soul voice. She imagines my soul voice to be a lot like her voice, though slightly more Cockney. Of course I am a Londoner so what can one expect? Yes, I may be a goddess, but I'm not posh.

You thought I was, didn't you?

Anyway, Mum says she hears a little Cockney accent coming from my soul when we link telepathically.

Though I wasn't born within earshot of the sound of Bow Bells (which to be a true Cockney that's where you should have been born), it doesn't really matter. We Londoners (especially North Londoners) tend to have a similar accent.

And you know what? Mum is right. That is what I sound like (even though I don't talk out loud).

When you humans talk to your animal companions how do you imagine their inner voice to sound like when they talk back?

You may think that it's your imagination when you hear your animal talk back, but Mum has studied animal communication and she knows that what she hears isn't her imagination but my own thoughts. I mean, come on, how else can we animals communicate if we can't actually speak out loud?

Mum picks up my thoughts pretty easily, and we are sure you all pick up your own pet's thought too, though sometimes you may dismiss the idea, thinking you were just imagining it.

Believe that you are really linking with your pet's mind and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You see, sometimes you might pick up an image in your mind. Well, you know what that is? That's right - your pet sent you that image!

That's how we animals communicate with each other too. We use telepathy.

So go on, please tell us how you imagine your pet's voice to sound like.

And if you do actually hear your pet's voice as a speaking voice then please also tell us! We make no judgements here:)

Interested in learning more about animal communication?

Then why not check out these books? Mum has read them all and can highly recommend them.

Wordless Wednesday: Dear Santa

Christmas cat

Dear Santa,

I am a good cat. I take care of my mum and gran and help other kitties find their forever homes. I am sweet, affectionate, and always willing to send healing purrs wherever they are needed. I also give lots of love and cuddles to my mum when I know she needs it. So please can you give me the following or Christmas. I know I'm a goddess and should be able to get whatever I want but life is hard and complicated. Some things are difficult to achieve in this day and age.

  1. I want all the lonely and orphaned kitties to find forever homes. I don't want them feeling sad   and unloved in shelters, worrying if they are going to die.  It's so unfair! Why do humans have to make all the rules? Please help all of them find loving families just like I have.
  2. I want a new house. It'll make Mum feel better because our current neighbourhood is not a nice place and it't too noisy. Mum wants to move to a nice area where it's quiet and there are lots of trees around. But these places are so expensive and Mum can't afford to move.
  3.  If Mum sold a lot more books (lots and lots of books!) we could be in with a chance of having a nice new home. We could also help all the rescue animals too. Mum has a big heart but empty pockets.
  4. And that's all. What do I want for myself? A new big box would be nice. Or maybe more treats!

Caturday Art

HAPPY CATURDAY!

Ok, now don't get freaked out by this Caturday's photo art. We wanted to try something a little different. Mum got the idea from this month's Digital Camera magazine. She tried to do it on Photoshop but it takes too long and she got frustrated so instead she headed off to her favourite photo online editor PicMonkey and tried it there. She came up with these two weird pics.

A Pet is for Life, Not Just Christmas!

Don't give pets as gifts

Feeling quite annoyed because Mum has told me that lots of kitties and other animals get given as Christmas presents and then sometimes get tossed outside or given away once the novelty wears off and people get bored.

That may be OK if  the unwanted gift is a new toy or gadget, or a sweater your granny might have knitted for you but you absolutely loathe, but a pet? A little furry baby that lives and breathes and has feelings too? A little soul that feels hunger, pain, loneliness, love?

Would you do that to a human baby?

NO!

So why do some people never give it a second thought in throwing out an unwanted pet along with discarded wrapping paper and left overs? Yes, some people may not take such drastic action, but even taking an unwanted pet "gift" to a rescue shelter is bad!

WHY?

Well, that unwanted pet will probably never find another home. Oh yes, it will probably be put to sleep. Forever.

Yes, this cat goddess is very disgusted by some humans, and it's happening more and more of late. Believe me, I try to stay calm whenever I catch my mum start fuming as she reads about the horrors humans inflict on poor animals. I do it because as a cat I am a master at keeping a zen-like calm. I do it to take care of  my mum and soothe her woes.

But knowing how it feels to be abandoned, well, I really want to meow so loud and start scratching the walls (and maybe some evil humans!).

It happened to me as a kitten. I was dumped. Thrown away like rubbish. Luckily, someone found me and took me to a rescue shelter where I was taken care of until Mum came to adopt me. I was born in the merry month of May, so I wasn't a Christmas present, but who knows? I may have been a birthday present. I can't remember that far back.

If anyone reading this is thinking of giving a cat or dog as a Christmas gift (or any other animal) please consider the following:

  • The person receiving the gift may not want it in the first place.
  • He or she may not want the commitment that comes with owning a pet. Or the responsibility. Being a pet owner means you have someone else to consider other than yourself for at least 15 years. It is just like having a child. Pets do not suit everyone. People are busy. Some people have to travel a lot because of their career.
  • Having a pet is expensive. Not just with the cost of food, litter, etc, but think of vet bills. Pet insurance. And then there's extras like boarding kennels and catteries whenever you need to go away.
  • Don't get a pet for your small child, even if they are asking for one. Consider first if you yourself, as the child's parent, can take on the extra responsibility, because it will really be just like having another child.

"With the qualities of cleanliness, affection, patience, dignity, and courage that cats have, how many of us, I ask you, would be capable of becoming cats?" – Fernand Mery
