My 15th Gotcha Day Caturday Art

Would you believe it - Mum forgot my Gotcha Day! Yes, the most important day for us both and she forgot, only remembered on Thursday.

My Gotcha Day is on 21st of July 2011, when Mum adopted from the amazing WoodGreen Pets Charity

But I won't hold it against my poor Mum for forgetting as she is currently so overwhelmed with caring for Granny. However, we are only a few days late so we've created this beautiful Caturday Art for our Gotcha Day celebration.

This is our favourite artsy version, created with the BeFunky effect Impressionist Soft GFX+
The next art effect is Modern Gouache GFX+
And this is Oil Painting GFX
And the original.

#FlashbackFriday: Gotcha Day!

Happy Gotcha Day!

On this day 6 years ago I came to live with my mum in my forever home. I already blogged about this on our latest Caturday Art post so I would like to thank you all for your lovely comments there.

To show you all what a cute kitten I was, here are some adorable kitten pics of me that I posted on Instagram. Sorry if the quality isn't that great.

Gotcha Day Sunday Selfie

HAPPY SUNDAY!

My Gotcha Day is coming up on the 21st July so here is a selfie that Mum took while I sat on her lap on the day I got adopted. I was so happy to be there. I felt at home right away and after she fed me I jumped onto her lap and napped contently.

Gotcha Day Caturday Art

Happy Caturday!

We are celebrating my 8th Gotcha Day! Mum and I rescued each other on the 21st of July 2011. She saw me on the Wood Green, The Animals Charity website and came to the London branch to adopt me straight away. We met on the Tuesday and it was love at first sight. Two days later, on Thursday 21st July, she came to collect me and the rest is history!

Here are a few of our favourite photos from my kittenhood. This one was taken a month after my adoption and I was already getting big, and, as you can see, I was quickly happy to expose my lovely tabby tummy for belly rubs (only to Mum though).

Kissable tabby kitty tummy?

My beautiful tabby markings enhanced incredibly with SuperPhoto

I am still tiny here, and really enjoying my new home. Mum used Pixlr for this trippy effect. I am sitting inside a tipped over bucket which I loved to play with at the time. I even fell asleep in it sometimes!
Too much catnip?

Mum used PiZap to make this Gotcha Day graphic.

And here is the original photo of me looking like a crazy cat on Granny's old vintage clothes drying frame.

Happy 9th Gotcha Day to Me!

It's my 9th Gotcha Day on the 21st of July so we're celebrating today because we don't normally post on Tuesdays.

We cannot believe it's been nine years already!

Yes, it's been nine years since Mum adopted me from the amazing rescue charity Wood Green.  You can read my rescue story here. All royalties from the book will be donated to Wood Green and two other charities we support.

Or you can watch Mum read the story to me on YouTube (but you won't be helping us fundraise there!)

And here's a little video Mum has put together of some kitten clips of me. The quality isn't very good but I'm sure you can see how adorable and playful I was.

12th Gotcha Day Sunday Selfie

It's my 12th Gotcha Day on 21st July. I got adopted by Mum Marie from Wood Green in the summer of 2011 when I was just 10 weeks old. I had been abandoned in someone's garden and this amazing charity rescued me. They took care of me until I was ready to find a forever home. And the rest is history!

You can read about it in my book.

Wear Orange for Crockett

We were going to post this with our Caturday Art yesterday but we thought Crockett deserved a blog post of his own so we added this for our Sunday Selfie instead.

It's one of the artworks Mum created with the PicsArt app and she was going to use it for a future Caturday Art but she thought as it's all fiery it would be purrfect for Wear Orange for Crockett Day.

Yesterday, May 18, would have been Crockett's fifth Gotcha Day. Sadly, he has crossed the Rainbow Bridge far too young after a tragic accident and so we are honouring him by wearing orange as all of our friends and blogger pals are also doing.

The blog hop will be open for 2 weeks, so you too can honour this beautiful little soul who we are all missing so much :( 💚💜

Friday Fill-Ins challenge

1. _________ is my _________ of the _________.

2. My favorite character on Big Bang Theory is _________.

3. I could set a world record for _________.

4. _________ is the craziest thing I've ever done.

MARIE
1. Evening is my favourite time of the day. I am always more stressed during the day.

2. My favourite character on Big Bang Theory is No One. I don't watch it.

3. I could set a world record for being the biggest worrier there is and ever was!

4. Drinking alcohol all day and night when I was younger is the craziest thing I've ever done. That went on for 5 years, I'm ashamed to say. I stopped before it was too late.

ATHENA
1. Napping with Mum is my favourite time of the day.

2. My favorite character on Big Bang Theory is No One. I don't watch it.

3. I could set a world record for being the most beautiful cat in the world.

4. Getting trapped in a cupboard drawer when I was a curious little kitten is the craziest thing I've ever done. I wasn't hurt but you can imagine Mum's panic when she heard me meowing and scratching. I got in around the back somehow and into the drawer. In fact, I don't remember but I was a kitten and that's what kittens do!

Happy 10th Gotcha Day To Me!

 It's my 10th Gotcha Day today 😻

I got adopted from Wood Green, The Animals Charity on 21st July 2011. It only seems like yesterday!

Here I am with Mum a couple of days after I got adopted. We look so much younger, especially me. I was just over 10 weeks old here.

What a cute kitten I was!

Check out this video Mum filmed on her then phone - a Blackberry. Remember them? I felt at home straight away and jumped onto Mum's lap for love and cuddles.

You can read my book A Forever Home For Athena if you haven't already to find out about my rescue (though some of it is fictionalized as Mum doesn't really know what happened to me before she adopted me other than I was found abandoned in a garden and got taken to the shelter).

My Gotcha Day Anniversary!

We can't believe that it's been four years since I was adopted. To me it was like winning the lottery (and for Mum too). I found the most loving forever home with the purrfect mum. Of course I chose her because I knew she was the one as soon as I saw her walk through the door at the shelter.

Athena and Marie
With my Mum Marie and the photo of me that she saw on the shelter website. Come on, how can anyone resist that face?

But other cats and pets are not so lucky. However, there are so many ways to help them. First of all, you can choose to adopt a pet rather than buy. You could also foster, volunteer, sponsor, donate money or food and other essentials. Most animal shelters have an Amazon wish list these days, which we think is an excellent way to help the shelter of your choice. Mum does this. It's what we have done with most of the proceeds made from my book. Instead of donating money we donate food and toys and stuff from the wish lists of the charities we support.

To celebrate my Gotcha Day Anniversary Mum will donate 50 pence for every comment left on this post to the animal charity that rescued me

So please, leave a comment below and let's see how much we can raise!
