Based in Cyprus Cyprus Pride House rehomes hundreds of cats and dogs all over Europe.
My grandparents are Greek and came to England from Cyprus so Mum and I feel a close connection to Greek and Cypriot rescue cats. For one thing, we know cats and dogs are often treated as vermin over there and there are thousands of unneutered cats, most of them strays, left to keep reproducing. This makes Mum very angry to know that this still goes on in this day and age. Of course, animals suffer all over the world, but we can't help them all as much as we would like to :(
As we can't afford to donate to every charity that needs our urgent help, we are doing our best to help by sharing, as we always do on this blog and on social media.
This beauty is LAYLA and she is looking for a home. She can be adopted in Europe and the UK

Happy Caturday!
This should be hanging in an art gallery, don't you think?
How did my mum create it?
Well, she didn't paint it because she isn't that kind of artist. She really can't paint or draw to save her life! πΈ But she used a cool photo of me, put it into BeFunky (we aren't affiliated), used some art effects in the paid version and there you are. She used the Underpainting effect and OilPaint. Now, let's see all your wonderful artistic creations made from either your pet photos or any pet drawings, paintings or illustrations you would like to share for our Caturday Art Blog Hop.

Mum tormented me with her vocal exercises yesterday. Yeah, she's suddenly started singing again. Now, I do love her when she sings softly but these operatic vocal gymnastics are a bit freaky and shrieky to feline ears.
She says she just wanted to film me for fun. No animals were harmed in this video! Mum has another room in the house where she practices her singing. But she wanted to film my reaction to see how many views we got on YouTube (and Instagram and TikTok) as well as other social media accounts. It's not fair that other cats seem to have all the luck with the views, don't you think? She posted it on her YouTube channel, though. It should have been on mine since I have the most subscribers (not many, thoughπΏ)
Thank the gods the recording and the exercising only lasted a few minutes!
Tortilla is being cared for by Cyprus Pride House and is seeking a forever home in UK or Europe.

"Very sweet, affectionate cat, although shy to start with. He was found with a terrible injury to his tail and so it had to be amputated so now he is tailless but it does not cause him any problems. He adores other cats so he needs a home with another affectionate kitty. Would be ok to home with older children but not a toddler who would frighten him"

This beautiful bengal boy is Cassius. Isn't he gorgeous?
PHOTO: Wood Green
Cassius is being cared for by my favourite animal shelter Wood Green, The Animals Charity. If you don't know my rescue story it's the charity that rescued me from someone's garden in North London where I was found abandoned as a kitten. Mum saw my photo on the charity's website and went to the London branch to adopt me. And the rest is history! Cassius is " looking for a new home, where he can enjoy being the only cat in the area- he just wants all of the attention for himself! Cassius is very sweet and friendly and enjoys jumping up onto your lap for a cuddle. When he's not showering you with love, Cassius loves to explore outside. He would definitely prefer to live in a more rural area with a low cat population. If you could offer Cassius his forever home, please click here to find out more."

Sadly some shelter animals never make it. It's heartbreaking to know that this goes on but we hope we can save a life by sharing...
The Reality of Many Shelter Animals
"URGENT" NYC Shelter Animals
“Urgent” was created to help advocate for NYC’s Death Row Dogs and Cats. What started as a desperate attempt to save some dogs turned into an enormous community of caring people, just as outraged as we are. Together, we are fighting to reform the NYC shelter system and save the thousands of adoptable animals being needlessly destroyed each year. The battle is long and the list of casualties continues to climb but we will not give up… not until there are none.
Sadly, there are so many overlooked cats urgently needing forever homes everywhere. Here is a list of UK rescue shelters and charities from the cat rescue resource CatChat.org, with details of harder to home senior cats, black cats, special needs cats, FIV+ cats and feral/farm cats.
More homeless pets looking for forever homes can be found on my Mum's Pinterest Pet Rescue board.
Disclosure: I received no compensation for this post. As a rescue kitty myself I want to help other rescues find their forever home, so each week on Charity Tuesday I share adoptable cats from Wood Green, the Animals Charity (which is where I was rescued) and some other charities dear to our hearts. Mum and I are so grateful to Wood Green because without them we would never have found each other! Please note: We are here to help cats and give our time freely. We also ensure that to the best of our knowledge and research other lesser-known charities mentioned are legit. This post contains affiliate links. Full disclosure here.
Mum has been busy catching up with her latest favourite TV show. It's called The Dog House (yeah, really) and I've caught her getting all emotional watching as the dogs try to find a forever home. Described as a First Dates show for dogs, the show's aim is to match prospective owners with a dog in need of a loving home. Mum says that the programme is "magical" and that it's quite different from most animal rescue shows seen here on British TV. The TV series is set inside Wood Green, The Animals Charity, and shows the huge commitment and care that staff put into matching their homeless dogs with the right dog owners - humans who share personal reasons for wanting to adopt a dog. The series is deep, very moving and pulls at the heartstrings - hence Mum getting over-emotional. She weeps for the homeless dogs (some who have had the most awful experiences) and is also touched by the personal stories of the people who long to adopt. Mum says it reminds her of how we rescued each other, all thanks to this pawmazing charity! She would like to add though that we did not go through the same process as these doggies and prospective owners did. Mum saw me online and went to the London centre to enquire about me and also see if we were right for each other. Well, luckily we were. I was in the first pen stretching my paw out to touch her through the mesh, going crazy because I really wanted her to take me home. I knew she was my future mum. It just happened. We fell in love with one another and the rest is history! Oh, the memories!

International Pet Rescue
Even though we are British and live in England it doesn't mean we don't want to help rescue animals around the world! We try to do our bit via social media, hoping to raise awareness for animals in need, thus giving them more of a chance to find the forever home they so deserve.
This blog may not have many followers and my social media accounts could do with at least 1000 more followers - no, make it 30 thousand - but I'm sure every little mention, share, etc, helps. One of the things that deeply upset Mum is knowing that in some countries cats are treated as vermin. (Yes, google if you don't believe). Being of Greek heritage (her parents are Greek Cypriot) the cats of Greece and Cyprus hold a special place in her heart. But you know Mum, she loves all animals! However, it's nice to know there are lots of amazing, caring, people who do help cats. And we are grateful to them. Here is Barcode at Cyprus Pride House - in Cyprus.

As a rescue cat myself, I love doing my bit to help other kitties who are looking for their forever humans. As always, I like to feature at least one rescue cat currently residing at the wonderful Wood Green, The Animals Charity as this is where I met my mum and it's one of the charities we continue to support. This handsome boy is Byron. Mum loves his name and is wondering if he was named after the poet, Lord Byron. You know, he of "She walks in beauty, like the night" (one of Mum's fave poems). He is also famous for a lot more besides being a poet, but I'll leave that for another post, as this one is about this gorgeous boy...
Handsome Tuxedo cat Byron is 11 years old and he is an independent guy who loves to be out in the garden when the sun is shining. He is a little anxious at the moment and will need an adult only home (so no kiddies!) Byron says that once he gets to know you and begins to trust you he will enjoy sitting on your lap.
He is at the Godmanchester shelter waiting for that special someone to take him home. If you are interested in adopting him check out his profile for more info.
Ever wanted to adopt a cat from Cyprus?
Cyprus Pride House was established in 2002 and tries to find homes for homeless pets in Cyprus. However, it's sometimes not possible to rehome them all in a country that's overrun with strays. Some of the locals aren't animal lovers and many see these beautiful souls in fur as nothing but vermin. We think that these people are evil scum vermin themselves, but Mum would rather focus her energy on helping the animals rather than getting angry at soulless fools. We won't go into horror stories here but we're sure you can guess what happens to some animals that happen to be born in the wrong place. It goes on all around the world, of course, and not just in Cyprus. There are many good people that do try to help these animals, some amazing volunteers who devote their lives to rescuing animals and these people are heroes. As Mum isn't in a position to do that right now, she wants to help raise awareness for animals and pet rescue charities by writing and blogging, and through social media. As a cat influencer, I want to do my bit too! Cyprus Pride House has many supporters and the charity is able to find homes for many of the rescued animals in the UK and other European countries. With donations and support, every penny goes towards the animals' care.

Nico is such a handsome cat who is looking for a very special home. Nico is FIV+ so is not able to live with or near other cats so he is looking for a rural home or a home with a cat-proofed garden, This 9-year-old lovely boy enjoys playing and can be so entertaining! Check out his profile here. He is at Godmanchester.
Meer

As a supporter of Cats Protection Mum has decided to play the Weekly Cats Protection Lottery. It costs just £1 per play, and you could win up to £1,000 in the weekly draws, and up to £25,000 in quarterly Super Draws. By playing the Weekly Lottery, Mum is happy to know she will be helping Cats Protection care for more abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens in the UK. As a charity that receives no government funding, Cats Protection relies on the kindness and generosity of its supporters. For more info click here

Bambino is a beautiful lady, full of character. As an independent girl, she needs an experienced owner who can build up a relationship with her. A rural environment would suit this little huntress well, but when the cold weather sets in she does love somewhere cosy to curl up for a nap and wouldn't mind a warm lap to snuggle on. Find out more about her here but don't forget to watch her video below first!
MOLLY
Molly and her siblings Leo and Snow were found left in someone's back yard at only 3-4 weeks old without a mother. Poor babies had eye infections. Fortunately the lady who found them was kind enough to bring them into her house and has cared for them ever since. They are now healthy, vaccinated and neutered but are in need of a new forever home because the fosterer's dogs don't like these little cuties. Molly is a little princess and loves to lie on your lap and to have lots of cuddles. Find out more about her and other Cypriot cats awaiting homes at Friends of Larnaca Cats

Buddy ended up at Wood Green the Animals Charity in London as a stray. The person who found and fed him, unfortunately, could not keep him so now he is longing for a new loving forever home.
Due to his special rehoming requirements, he needs a rural home or an enclosed garden. If you are interested in adopting him please check out his profile here!
MAKI
(Photo: Friends of Larnaca Cats)
Maki and her siblings were picked up from one of the main colonies by a volunteer. These sweet babies were just so young to be on their own and were very weak, thin and sickly. The first week it was touch and go, however over the weeks they started to grow and become lively, healthy little fun-loving. kitties.
Beautiful Maki is an affectionate, playful and loving little girl now ready for a home to call her own! If you are interested in adopting a kitty from Cyprus please check out Maki's profile at Friends of Larnaca Cats to find out more!
