Happy Tabby Cat Day and Adopt a Shelter Pet Day #CharityTuesday

Happy National Tabby Cat Day!

Mum only just found out it's National Tabby Cat Day so she is quickly inserting a photo of me to show you how beautiful tabbies are 😻😽

We are also featuring again the handsome tabby Keano who is still waiting for a forever home at Wood Green The Animal Charity. We posted about him previously. It's such a bad shame he is taking longer to rehome than others. We're sure he is being well looked after by the team at Wood Green but it can't be much fun seeing other kitties come and go and wondering when it'll be your turn to find a forever family to love you and take care of you.
Keano (photo: Wood Green The Animals Charity)

"Keano is such a people cat and all he really wants in life is a home of his own. Keano is FIV+ which means he cannot live with other cats and really needs to be in a home where there are no visiting cats in his garden. Perhaps you are lucky enough to live in a home like this? He just needs a nice, safe garden and all the love and attention you can give him. Keano cuddles really are the best. He is a playful boy so will provide hours of entertainment with his antics."

Keano is currently in a foster home. To find out more about him you can contact the Godmanchester here.

Watch him in action on youtube here.

Ozzy is another kitty waiting for his forever home. No, he isn't a tabby, but he is still a handsome boy, a lovely tuxedo cat for Tuxie Tuesday.

Ozzy (photo: Wood Green The Animals Charity)

"Ozzy is a very sensitive little soul who is looking for a special home with adults only. Ozzy can be quite scared of the outside world, he doesn’t like loud noises and fast movements so will need very understanding owners that can give him the time and patience that he needs to feel safe. Once Ozzy has built a bond with you he is a very affectionate boy who loves to follow you around like a little shadow. He likes to be fussed and sit on your lap but also enjoys his own company and will happily take himself off for a nap. Ozzy would love a home where he can gradually begin exploring outside in the garden and burn off some of his energy whilst working on his confidence! He would also prefer to be the only animal in the home."

Ozzy is at the Heydon centre. Find out more about him here.

Greek Easter Sunday Selfie and Friendly Fill-Ins

Happy Sunday and Happy Easter to all my Greek furry friends and your families! And of course, anyone else who is celebrating today.

Today's selfie is this one which I like a lot, not simply because I'm looking beautiful as always, but just look at the spring-like colours! I was sitting on the dining table near the front window and the sun shone in as I chewed my kitty grass. Mum came in the room and when she saw me sitting like this after I stopped chomping on the grass she gazed in admiration and told me I looked like a beautiful statue so she picked up her iPhone and helped me take this "selfie".

The sun hasn't been shining much here in Essex lately but I hope it's been shining near you. In fact, it's been quite a windy day so I've been snuggling with Mum and taking long naps!

Enjoy your Easy Sunday!

MARIE
1. I got my first cell phone in 2001. My dad got it for me as a present. We call them mobile phones in the UK.
2. I wish the word celebrity could be removed from the English language. Most of these mere mortals are annoying, especially these days when anyone with zero talent can be a "celebrity".  "Reality star" is another 😠
3. I'll never outgrow my love for cats and music.
4. The music most of the younger generation is into makes me feel old. I don't care for it either. Yes, it's just noise! I love music: from Metal to Classical, and I was a teen during the 80s so to me the music of the "good old days" was way better. I also love the 60s and 70s (and some 90s).

ATHENA
1. I got my first cell phone in (why would a cat need a cell phone?
2. I wish the word NO could be removed from the English language. I don't like it when Mum says NO to me!
3. I'll never outgrow my love for treats and kisses from Mum. I love cuddles too.
4. The younger kitties I see around here make me feel old.

Go Birding Day #caturdayart

This post contains affiliate links. Full disclosure here.

Happy Caturday!

It's Go Birding Day and Mum and I are celebrating in different ways.

I'm watching of course... watching and wishing...

cat art of cat staring through the window
Stuck behind the window watching birdies in the street.

Nature lover and animal lover Mum's ideal Go Birding Day would be photographing the lovely birds in the garden, admiring their beauty and sending peaceful loving thoughts and love to them.

As for me, I'm watching and watching and thinking.... well you know what I'm thinking, kitties!

Does this mean Mum loves me less? I doubt that very much!

cat and her human mum

Originally, Mum wanted to snap a photo of one of our birdie visitors but she hasn't managed to do that as by the time she picks up her smartphone or goes to find her camera the birdie has vanished (nothing to do with me!) So because we needed a bird photo for this post I suggested to Mum to look online for some cat and bird art in the public domain she could share.

She couldn't find anything suitable so went to search on Zazzle and found this vintage art featuring a cat playing the violin to the birdies. Peace-loving Mum thinks it's sweet but I think the cat has sinister intentions, don't you?

Just look at its eyes.

Adopt a Tuxie this #tuxietuesday!

Isn't this Tuxedo kitty lovely?

PHOTO: Wood Green, The Animals Charity

This 6-year-old beauty is Mittens. She recently lost her owner and so she's had a tough time recently. She is currently at Wood Green, the Animals Charity.

Mittens would love an understanding home as she needs somewhere she can take her time to come to terms with her new environment. "She will need time to build up a bond with her new family but once she’s become confident with you she will be a faithful companion. Mittens will be best suited to a family with older children who will respect her space."

If you would like to learn more about Mittens check out her profile here. She is at the Godmanchester shelter.

Watch her video below or on YouTube.

Sunday Selfie at the Window & Friendly Fill-Ins

Happy Sunday!

Hope you like the sunny selfie Mum helped me take. My ears got a bit shy and are hiding behind the blind but you can see the rest of my meow-lovely face with great clarity 😻

1. An Easter ( or Passover) memory that I have is ________________________.

2. I hope to purchase ________________ this year.

3. When the days are warm, I _________.

4. If the Easter Bunny visited my house, _________.

Marie

1. An Easter memory that I have is a Greek Easter one when I was little. My parents used to take me and my brother to a local Greek Orthodox church in London over Easter time. I hated it because it was crowded and there were candles everywhere - loads of people carrying them, and I was scared I was going to get burnt. I've always had a fear of candles and flames. Over the years, as I was growing up, we stopped going and as I'm not religious I don't go at all now. Not saying I don't believe in Christ, but I just don't like organized religion. I have my own beliefs - my church is nature - out in the forest!

2. I hope to purchase a catio for Athena this year or get someone to make me one. They are so expensive but I don't want any old cheap rubbish either. It has to be secure. I so wish I could do it myself.

3. When the days are warm, I just want to sleep all day like a cat.

4. If the Easter Bunny visited my house all he would find right now is one Vegan chocolate Easter egg (which I've already started eating this early in the morning).

Athena

1. An Easter ( or Passover) memory that I have is... I don't know, dreaming of bunnies?

2. I hope to purchase - well there's nothing I need to purchase as Mum does it all for me.

3. When the days are warm, I get more easy time on.

4. If the Easter Bunny visited my house I'd run after him or her to get them out at once!

Greek Cat Rescue Charities to Follow on Instagram #charitytuesday

Though we are a UK cat blog, we also want to help animals from around the world. We feel that this is really important as some of the most amazing hard-working non-profits often get overlooked. We have huge respect for the pawsome people out there working hard and volunteering to help homeless cats and other animals in parts of the world where, unfortunately, animals don't seem to matter much - or not at all 😧😿

We're sure those of you who holiday abroad have witnessed all the stray cats hanging around various holiday resorts. These cats rely on tourists for food but when the tourists leave these poor cats can starve, unless of course, some kindly locals help feed them. However, there are so many unneutered cats everywhere and these great charities do their utmost to help control cat overpopulation through their trap-neuter-return programmes.

These charity organizations also need funds to help improve the quality of life of the many street cats through daily feeding programmes and veterinary care.

Most of these amazing volunteers dedicate all their spare time to help these poor felines and often will have no shelter facilities and receive no state funding.

Most of the charities are also dedicated to finding forever homes for these stray or abandoned cats and kittens.

Today we have some Greek cat charity Instagram accounts for you to check out and follow if you are on Instagram too!
