Adopt Sweep #CharityTuesday

It's Tuxie Tuesday as well as Charity Tuesday so here's lovely Tuxedo cat Sweep, who is up for adoption at Wood Green, The Animals Charity (yeah, where I was adopted from!)

Sweep

Sweep is a handsome 13- year-old gent currently residing at the Heydon centre of Wood Green whilst awaiting his forever home.

Charming Sweep is an affectionate boy who loves to be around people and enjoys greeting you with big purrs. He also loves to sit on your lap and receive a cuddle.

Sweep is FIV+ and will need a rural home with no other cats around.

I was rescued and adopted as a kitten in July 2011

Athens Cats

Can you adopt a cat from Greece?  Cat charity NineLivesGreece is run by "a handful of volunteers"  who dedicate their spare time to the stray cats of Athens. With "no office, no shelter facilities, no animal ambulance or transport van" the charity does not receive any state funding or assistance.

Nine Lives Greece's main aim is the "humane reduction of the stray cat overpopulation through trap-neuter-return programmes. Each year, we get hundreds of stray cats in Athens neutered/spayed, greatly reducing the numbers of unwanted kittens born each season, and ensuring a healthier adult cat population."

Nine Lives Greece also helps to improve the quality of life for existing street cats through feeding programmes on a daily basis - feeding nearly 450 stray and abandoned cats in central Athens and giving routine anti-parasite treatment, and veterinary care for ill or injured cats. In addition, they find loving, responsible homes for as many stray or abandoned cats and kittens as possible.

Here are a couple of cuties currently in need of forever homes. Don't worry about not being able to read Greek (we can't either) as you will see the English text below.

Do you like books? How about cats? How about #books and #cats combined? Well we got the solution! Stevie and Lulu, boy and girl they love each other and they love to read! Overlooked cats in Britain

Sadly, there are so many overlooked cats urgently needing forever homes everywhere. Here is a list of UK rescue shelters and charities from the cat rescue resource CatChat.org, with details of harder to home senior cats, black cats, special needs cats, FIV+ cats and feral/farm cats.

Happy Tabby Cat Day and Adopt a Shelter Pet Day #CharityTuesday

Happy National Tabby Cat Day!

Mum only just found out it's National Tabby Cat Day so she is quickly inserting a photo of me to show you how beautiful tabbies are 😻😽

Rescue Cats Rock black and white photo of cat poster

We are also featuring again the handsome tabby Keano who is still waiting for a forever home at Wood Green The Animal Charity. We posted about him previously. It's such a bad shame he is taking longer to rehome than others. We're sure he is being well looked after by the team at Wood Green but it can't be much fun seeing other kitties come and go and wondering when it'll be your turn to find a forever family to love you and take care of you.
Keano (photo: Wood Green The Animals Charity)

"Keano is such a people cat and all he really wants in life is a home of his own. Keano is FIV+ which means he cannot live with other cats and really needs to be in a home where there are no visiting cats in his garden. Perhaps you are lucky enough to live in a home like this? He just needs a nice, safe garden and all the love and attention you can give him. Keano cuddles really are the best. He is a playful boy so will provide hours of entertainment with his antics."

Keano is currently in a foster home. To find out more about him you can contact the Godmanchester here.

Watch him in action on youtube here.

Ozzy is another kitty waiting for his forever home. No, he isn't a tabby, but he is still a handsome boy, a lovely tuxedo cat for Tuxie Tuesday.

Ozzy (photo: Wood Green The Animals Charity)

"Ozzy is a very sensitive little soul who is looking for a special home with adults only. Ozzy can be quite scared of the outside world, he doesn’t like loud noises and fast movements so will need very understanding owners that can give him the time and patience that he needs to feel safe. Once Ozzy has built a bond with you he is a very affectionate boy who loves to follow you around like a little shadow. He likes to be fussed and sit on your lap but also enjoys his own company and will happily take himself off for a nap. Ozzy would love a home where he can gradually begin exploring outside in the garden and burn off some of his energy whilst working on his confidence! He would also prefer to be the only animal in the home."

Ozzy is at the Heydon centre. Find out more about him here.

Adopt a Tuxie this #tuxietuesday!

Isn't this Tuxedo kitty lovely?

PHOTO: Wood Green, The Animals Charity

This 6-year-old beauty is Mittens. She recently lost her owner and so she's had a tough time recently. She is currently at Wood Green, the Animals Charity.

Mittens would love an understanding home as she needs somewhere she can take her time to come to terms with her new environment. "She will need time to build up a bond with her new family but once she’s become confident with you she will be a faithful companion. Mittens will be best suited to a family with older children who will respect her space."

If you would like to learn more about Mittens check out her profile here. She is at the Godmanchester shelter.

Watch her video below or on YouTube.

Tuxie Tuesday #adoptdontshop

As it's Tuxie Tuesday today (and Charity Tuesday), we're sharing this handsome Tuxedo cat on the blog today to help him find a forever home.

OZZY
(Photo: Wood Green, The Animals Charity)

His name is Ozzy. He is 7 years old and as you can see, he is very handsome. Ozzy is looking for a new home, "although not just any home". He tells me he is seeking "a very particular and special type of home where he can be himself."

If you live in England and interested in adopting Ozzy, he is at the Heydon branch of Wood Green, The Animals Charity. Find out more about him HERE.

Charity Tuesday #TuxieTuesday

Black and White Cats Matter Too

Did you know that in the UK 75% of cats are black and white "Tuxedos"? Two of Mum's past cats were black and white, and she says they were amazing cats, especially Suzy. Unfortunately, Mum's first Tuxie, Cas, disappeared.

But just like all black cats, black and white cats are overlooked by many humans when choosing a cat. They can spend a lot longer in shelters awaiting adoption.

That's why, when Tuxedo Cat contacted us to give them a mention here, we thought why not? This fab website aims to give a voice to Tuxedo cats, helping "to spread the message that just because a cat looks common there is nothing common about the infectious personalities and enthusiasm for life that you get from a Tuxedo Cat!"

😺

And as we are celebrating the beauty of the Tuxie cat, here are a couple of beauties awaiting loving forever homes at Wood Green, the Animal Charity.

Every Charity Tuesday we like to feature some rescue kitties from the charity as it's one of the main ones we support (and I came from there!)

Winifred

Winifrid (Photo: Wood Green)
This little girl is called Winifred. She was a stray and decided to take up residence in someone''s greenhouse. Winifred is now enjoying regular meals and a cosy bed while waiting for a forever home. She can be a bit wary to start with, but with a bit TLC and patience, she will become a loving companion for someone. She is at the Heydon centre. Check out her profile for more info.

Puff

Puff (Photo: Wood Green)
Lovely Puff came to the shelter with her brother Huff. They are now looking for a forever home where they can be given time and TLC in order for them to flourish. Both kitties are quite shy at the moment so will therefore need a quiet home with experienced owners. If you can offer this lovely pair a new home then please check out their profile for more info. They are both at Heydon.
💚

We are sad to see that Queen Whisper is still waiting for a new forever home. You may remember that we featured her last Tuesday.  She's so sweet. We hope she finds a loving new home soon.

#TuxieTuesday Adopt a Cat Special #CharityTuesday

As a rescue kitty I want to help other rescue cats get rehomed, so we are continuing our new weekly feature for Charity Tuesday, sharing adoptable cats from Wood Green, the Animal Charity (which is where I was rescued). We are so grateful to this amazing charity because without them we wouldn't be together! It's also one of the main charities we support.

Today I suggested to Mum that we should have a Tuxie Tuesday special and feature 3 beautiful black and white cats who are seeking a forever home. Mum says the first cat, Tinkerbelle, reminds her a lot of her dear beloved Suzy, her first real soulmate cat that unfortunately went to the bridge back in 1998. As I've only seen photos of Suzy I can only say that there is some resemblance (other than the fact that they are both tuxedo girls.)

TINKERBELLE (photo: Wood Green)

Tinkerbelle tells me she is an independent lady who enjoys a fuss and likes nothing more than curling up somewhere warm to sleep. This sweet girl has also lived with dogs in her previous home and copied their behaviour by playing fetch with them! Want to know more about Tinkerbelle? View her profile HERE

PEPSI (photo: Wood Green)

Even though Pepsi is a shy girl she is also sweet once she feels comfortable with you. She likes to snuggle up next to you and have a fuss but she needs to be the one to instigate it! She loves playing with scrunched up pieces of paper and pens. If you would like to find out more about her visit her profile at HERE

BELLA (photo: Wood Green)

Beautiful Bella says she is a friendly cat who prefers to choose to come to you for fuss and attention. She is very attached to her bed and as you can see from her photo, she loves snoozing in it. Bella has a special attachment to a fishing rod toy with a pink fish attached that she has had since she was a kitten. She will carry it around the house with her! (I do something similar). Visit Bella's page to find out more!

Tuxie Tuesday: Remembering Suzy

Yesterday we posted a  video of cute black and white kittens that Mum found on YouTube. Mum really wanted to post a video of her first soulmate cat, Suzy, who was a black and white cat. But unfortunately she doesn't have one. This is because back in the 80s all she had was a camera to take photos, not one to record videos.

The reason Mum wanted a video of Suzy was because the month of June is Suzy's month. We will be devoting most of our posts to her.

Why is it Suzy's month?

Well, she wasn't born in June. She was actually born in May but her Gotcha Day was June 13th 1985. Sadly, the day she left Mum for the Rainbow Bridge was also in June. But that was June 29th 1998.

Suzy
Some of you may not know this, but Suzy is the heroine in Mum's fantasy book The Snowflake Pendant In fact, Mum was going to call it Suzy and the Snowflake Pendant but thought that title might be a bit too long.

Mum loved Suzy a lot and Suzy loved her back. They had a very strong bond. Mum calls her her other soulmate cat.

Suzy was the family cat and actually chosen by Mum's younger brother. He wanted a kitten after the family cat Cas went missing (another Tuxedo!) Mum wanted to wait a bit longer to get another cat. But when she saw Suzy's cute little face she fell in love with her instantly.

Tiny Suzy in Mum's hands

Suzy was a pretty kitty and very affectionate. Mum still misses her a lot and thinks about her every day.
