Friendly Fill-Ins

1. On New Year’s Eve, I __________________.
2. A goal that I have for 2019 is ________________.
3. If I had to choose a guide word for 2019, it would be _________.
4. New beginnings _________.

Marie's Answers
1. On New Year's Eve, I will probably drink lots of wine but I will attempt Dry January again on 1st Jan.
2. A goal that I have for 2019 is to get back to my writing again.
3. If I had to choose a guide word for 2019, it would be compassion. Not me, because I do have a lot of compassion, especially for animals. But I would like compassion to be the focus of everyone in 2019. For both animals and other people.
4. New beginnings can happen to you if you try to make them happen. Don't wait around for someone else to save you or to indeed change your life for you. I'm still learning this as a mature adult, I have to admit.

Athena's Answers
1. On New Year's Eve, I will probably sleep through it and wake up at midnight wondering why Granny is still up so late.
2. A goal that I have for 2019 is to try to keep Mum happy.
3. If I had to choose a guide word for 2019, it would be... Meow?
4. New beginnings can be fun if you let them.

1. Every Christmas, I ________________.
2. The day after Christmas, I ______________________.
3. ‘Twas the night before Christmas, and _________.
4. All I want for Christmas is _________.

Marie's Answers

1. Every Christmas, I watch all the soaps EastEnders, Emmerdale, Coronation Street, and Hollyoaks (if it's on as sometimes it isn't and is shown on different days during the festive season). As most of you are American, you probably haven't heard of those.
2. The day after Christmas, I usually stay in and sleep late.
3.“Twas the night before Christmas, and I'm probably doing what I always do.
4. All I want for Christmas is Peace, Love, Health and Happiness not just for me and my loved ones but for all those who deserve it. And for all cruelty to animals to stop! All animals are sentient beings so please stop and think about it.

Athena's Answers

1. Every Christmas, I sleep as always and don't notice anything different. Mum might sing Wham's Last Christmas and the Nightwish version of Walking in the Air to me.
2. The day after Christmas, I chill out or play with as many boxes I can find because it's Boxing Day.
3.“Twas the night before Christmas, and Mum's probably drinking and looking sad while catching up with some TV.
4. All I want for Christmas is all rescue animals to find their forever homes and families.

Sunday Selfie and Christmas Friendly Fill-Ins

I'm a bit grumpy in this selfie because Mum was ignoring me with the computer. I'm sitting behind her as she writes at her desk. I am on the bed wanting some cuddles. Isn't it horrible when your human ignores you like this?

1. I really need to ___________________.
2. My favorite Christmas decoration is __________________________.

3. It’s beginning to look a lot like _________.
4. This time of year, I eat my fair share of _________.

Marie's answers:

1. I really need to stop stressing out.
2. My favourite Christmas decoration is a Swedish angel mobile you can see in this old post. It was a Christmas present from my brother when he moved to Sweden.
3. It's beginning to look a lot like winter. It's cold, windy and wet but without the beauty of snow in sight. It's set to get milder next week though. Christmas is always mild in England these days.
4. This time of year, I eat my fair share of chocolates. Too many!

Athena's answers:

1. I really need to persuade Mum to sleep more so I can snuggle up close to keep warm.
2. My favourite Christmas decoration is a box. Mum thinks it might be this Christmas cat toy.
3. It's beginning to look a lot like it will rain.
4. This time of year, I eat my fair share of treats.

Caturday Art Christmas Selfies with Mum

Apologies for not being around much this past week but we've had a lot of stuff going on and those ridiculous ongoing problems with our pipes and drains. Nightmare city here! Hopefully, the problem has been sorted now but you never know with our luck :(

This has caused Mum and Granny to be upset and Mum has been having anxiety attacks. But she never forgets to take care of me no matter what. She puts me first like most Mums do for their kids.

I've been soothing both Mum and Granny with my purrs and hiding in Mum's bedroom when the plumbers came round.

As you would expect, Mum has had to do her art quickly this week and she's done this on her phone with the PhotoLab app. Then she went to PicMonkey and added some fancy text.

Cat Confidential #bookreview

Here is a great book for all cat lovers we'd love to tell you about.

Cat Confidential: expert advice on how to understand your furry feline by renowned cat counsellor Vicky Halls

From Amazon:

"You love your cat – and you hope your cat loves you too – but cats and their owners can often misunderstand each other. The cat says one thing and the owner hears another. Mostly, it feels right but, sometimes, something can go very wrong. How do you really know if your pampered pet wants a stroke behind the ears, or whether that insistent miaow is trying to communicate something more complex? If you’ve ever wondered why your cat does the things it does – soils in the house, picks a fight with the cat next door, feels nervous around strangers or destroys your furniture – then this is the book you have to read.
Renowned cat counsellor Vicky Halls has changed the lives of thousands of owners and their problem cats. Filled with intriguing case studies, amazing facts and practical advice, Cat Confidential answers all your questions so that you can understand your feline friend better. Fascinating, funny and heart-warming, it's your chance to explore the unique bond between you and your cat. Catisfaction guaranteed."

Mum says she found this book really interesting and informative and it's definitely a must-read for any cat lover/parent.

Music Monday Throwback Christmas Special

Some of the best memories for Mum music-wise are from the year 1984. Well, she was 18, ambitious and full of hope for the future, and totally music-mad. It was before she got into rock and metal so she was into the top pop acts of the day.

Music was great in those days. I particularly enjoy listening to George Michael and Wham with Mum when gets nostalgic. Mum also loved Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran and Paul Young at the time too.

So today we're sharing some of Mum's music memories from Christmas 1984.

In December of that year, Mum went to 3 live concerts. Spandau Ballet (twice!) earlier in the month and Wham! on Boxing Day. She couldn't get tickets for their Christmas Eve gig, unfortunately. In the previous year, she'd seen Duran Duran at the same venue - Wembley Arena. That was her first ever concert! She tells me the screaming girls ruined it for her because for Mum it's always been about the music. She was never a crazy fangirl, screaming at her idols. No. She wanted to join them on stage, be part of the gang because she dreamed of being a singer.

So here are some songs from December 1984. We hope you enjoy the memories (if you're old enough!)

  Last Christmas by Wham!

Do They Know It's Christmas? by Band Aid

Round and Round by Spandau Ballet

Everything She Wants by Wham! (Mum's fave Wham song)

Love of the Common People by Paul Young (Top of the Pops Christmas Special 1984)

The Reflex by Duran Duran (Top of the Pops Christmas Special1984)

Friendly Fill-Ins and Sunday Selfie with Mum's New Cat Scarf

We're late posting today but better late than never! It's currently evening here in the UK, so for us, it is quite late :)

First up, here's our Friendly Fill-Ins:

1. I love buying gifts for ____________________.

2. I have a hard time finding a gift for ____________________.
3. It’s the most wonderful time _________.
4. There’s no place like _________ for the holidays.

Marie's  answers:
1. I love buying gifts for Athena and close family
2. I have a hard time finding a gift for most people.
3. It’s the most wonderful time of the year because I love winter though I'm not too keen on Christmas because of all the commercialism.
4. There’s no place like home for the holidays.

Athena's answers.
1. I love buying gifts for no one. I don't need to as I am a gift to my humans!
2. I have a hard time finding a gift for Mum because I'm an indoor cat and can't fetch her a live gift.
3. It’s the most wonderful time to be snuggled up in a warm duvet with Mum.
4. There’s no place like home for the holidays.

We are joining 15andMeowing and Four-Legged Furballs for the Friendly Fill-Ins Hop

We have quite a few Sunday Selfies today, and also a Selfie fail.

This one I'm quite happy with as it shows me playing with my Catit Circuit Toy. It's fun!

Athena playing with her Catit Super Senses Circuit0

The next selfie is a super fail! I mean just look at it! Mum is meant to be in the pic, but Mum's yoga mat isn't!

Mum wants to show you this cat scarf she bought for herself from Amazon UK

It's available in a few colours but Mum went for the dark grey one.

It also looks lovely as a shawl, but this photo doesn't do it much justice. Mum hadn't much time to take a better one.
