Mum was trying to take my selfie - or rather she was helping me take it but I decided I needed to give myself a little wash first. I wanna look my best, of course!

1. A recent earworm I had was 4th of July by Soundgarden. I've been listening to a lot of 90s Grunge lately.

2. I have no interest in reading the shitty UK tabloids or anything about overhyped "celebs".

3. I would give up my crap life in exchange for peace of mind. But I have responsibilites...

4. Vanilla is my favorite scent. Lavender too.

1. A recent earworm I had was All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World by Nightwish. This instrumental CD relaxes me. It relaxes Mum too and she listens to it while doing yoga.

2. I have no interest in reading anthing. I like reading minds though.

3. I would give up some of my chicken in exchange for some treats.

4. Boiled chicken is my favorite scent. Also, I love my mum's natural scent. She is my mummy after all.

At The Window Sunday Selfie and Friendly Fill-Ins

I was trying to catch some sun puddles whilst spying on some neighbours through the front window and also hoped to see some birdies. Sometimes I see doggies going by with their owners for walkies. A few outdoor cats too, but I see them mostly in the back garden. Don't think there are many cats here, which is good 😻

1. If you see me sat in front of the TV screen it means I am trying to get Mum off the sofa and feed me.

2. I am feeling worried about Mum when she looks worried.

3. I wish I could go back and relive the moment when I first got fed by Mum at my forever home and then I snuggled safe and sound on her lap.

4. I would like to swap lives with no one for a day. I have a great life here with Mum. Some other cats don't have that.

Symphonic Metal Day, Feline Friday and Fill-Ins

1. I like being able to work from home - a stay-at-home cat mum!

2. I don’t want to live in reality but I have to. Real-life is hard - especially for a highly-sensitive soul like myself.

3. I’m counting down the days until people realize nature is fighting back big-time and we have to change our ways.

4. Being highly-sensitive is a lot like being a cat. I am like a sponge - soaking up atmospheres and other people's feelings. I have super hearing too and a heightened sense of smell. Maybe I used to be a cat. Who knows.

ATHENA

1. I like being the centre of attention - unless it's naptime!

2. I don’t want to lick my butt after poo-poo, but I have to. Sometimes Mum wipes it with toilet paper after I've been but I don't like it. I'm not a baby!

3. I’m counting down the days until Mum becomes full nocturnal.

4. Sleeping on Mum at night is a lot like sleeping in sun puddles and feeling the lovely warmth bathing my furs.

Nightwish - Metal From Finland #MewsicMonday

Hi, music fans!

Choose a country and build a list of rock songs from that country is this week's theme requested by October's Mewsic Moves Me honorary co-hostess Mary at Jingle Jangle Jungle.

We have chosen...

As a Brit, Mum's music collection has always consisted mainly of British artists, plus a lot of American artists as well. There's no doubt about it, many of the classic rock/metal bands are from the UK. And we know the USA has always had amazing rock bands as well.

Sadly, British music has been going downhill ever since the Nineties. Nothing exceptional had captured Mum's soul or ears since then so all she did during the Noughties was listen to music from the past, especially 80s music.

Then in 2007, that all changed.

While researching the Romantic poets Byron and Shelley on YouTube for her novel Poet's Blood, she came across a Finnish band called Nightwish. You see, someone had uploaded a video of clips from the BBC Byron drama series and had replaced the audio with the song "Sleeping Sun" by Nightwish.

If only Mum could find that video now because she's searched and she can't find it anywhere, so it must have been deleted. However, you can watch the official Nightwish video of the song below.

This beautiful song enthralled Mum instantly. Mum wanted to find out more about this band she had never heard of, and why had she not heard of them before? The lead vocalist sounded kind of Irish, were they from Ireland?

No, she soon discovered that this amazing band called Nightwish was a Finnish band and actually of the metal genre - a new breed of metal (for Mum at the time) - Symphonic Metal. Mum was hooked. She had now found the music that spoke to her soul. Music that included most genres of music that truly moves her. Metal, rock, classical, orchestral, operatic, dramatic, bombastic, mellow, melancholic - it speaks to her like no music has ever had. This is her SOUL music. It inspires her - to write, to create, to sing, to heal.

So, here, without further ado - we have music from Finnish band Nightwish.

So, every Monday I enjoy picking songs with Mum Marie for the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop. In this music linky party participants share songs from YouTube or Vimeo on their blog.

Today it's our own choice of songs which we hope you enjoy. Continuing with our own A-Z theme, we are now up to the letter N with some of Mum's favourite artists beginning with N.

NORTHERN KINGS - View To A Kill

There is a Nightwish connection here. Bass player and singer Marco Hietala from Nightwish was a member of this "supergroup" covers band along with other well-known Finnish musicians: Jarkko Ahola from Teräsbetoni, ex-Dreamtale, Tony Kakko from Sonata Arctica and Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto from Charon and Harmaja.

One of Mum's fave 80s bands is Duran Duran and this is a cover of their James Bond theme song, A View To A Kill.
