1. If it wasn't for my love of animals, I would seriously crack up. Being an animal rights advocate can be tough but my passion for these animals and my empathy for their plight keeps me from turning away. They need as many human voices as they can get to fight the evil of most of mankind.
2. I like to wake up very early and watch some Netflix or Amazon Prime before the break of dawn when the chaos of daylight and the noise and busyness of human life descends on me.
3. Email is my preferred method of communication. I hate talking on the phone. I need to gather my thoughts in order before I can have a proper conversation. I'm an INJF but I also put it down to anxiety and depression which just clouds my mind.
4. You can't buy love. Not really, unless you buy a pet, which I wouldn't approve of. Best to rescue from a shelter, which I did with the lovely Athena. True love for sure.

Athena's Answers

1. If it wasn’t for my dear Mum, I wouldn't be here and having these great adventures as a celebrity and talking to all my furriends and followers!

2. I like to get up before Mum so I can wake her up for my breakfast.

3. Staring at Mum is my preferred method of communication.

4. You can’t buy happiness. Unless you buy a cat, I suppose. But it's best to rescue one from the shelter like Mum did with me.

Happy Valentine's Day #caturdayart

Hope it's not too cold where you are. It's been quite mild here in Essex, but windy and rainy too. Mum and I prefer colder, crispier days. I hate the cold, but at least I get to snuggle up with Mum more to keep warm and in return, this calms her so I think we both get a good deal. 

So Valentine's Day is soon upon us and I guess it means most of you will be sharing your sweet romantic art today. But Valentine's Day isn't just for romantic couples! We like to celebrate all kinds of love - in particular, the love bond between pets and their people. 

We hope you all lovely Valentine's Day on Thursday!

The Freeze #CaturdayArt

Happy Caturday!

Mum is still lagging behind on blogging duties as she isn't feeling too good at the moment. She is, however, trying to keep up with those of our great blogging friends via Twitter and Instagram. Sometimes she'll venture onto Facebook but not much.

We do hope that any of you caught in the Polar Vortex are doing OK and are safe and well. Hard to imagine what it must feel like to have to endure such extreme temperatures. 

Last night in our neck of the woods it was -4 degrees Celsius and that was freezing enough, but nothing compared to what some of you are going through. It's worrying for the animals too as some idiots are still allowing their animals outdoors in such horrendous conditions. And what about the poor strays and wildlife?

Horrid.

As I edit this it is Friday morning and last night we had a little snow but nothing really to get excited about.

So, here's my art for today. Mum used PicsArt app, the effect is called White Ice.

Mum then added a sketchy frame from PicMonkey.

Caturday Art: Snowing (NOT)

So we know that most of you around the globe have had snow by now (well, it seems that way), but us, NO! It hardly snowed in West Essex where we now live. 

As Mum loves wintery scenes she created some snowy effects on the following pics using the excellent photo editing app, PhotoLab.

Mum also wanted to include the photo below which doesn't really fit in with the theme of snow but we both love it. It was made with PhotoLab again and the frame came from PicMonkey.

In a way, it does fit in with the winter theme because as you can see, I'm feeling all snug and warm indoors on our bed while outside it was cold (but not cold enough to snow!)

If I look a bit angry in the pic below it's probably because Mum wasn't ready to join me for a nap when it was taken. Too busy writing and editing and whatever else she does on that computer!

1. I just wanna be a stay at home cat mum, is that too much to ask? When I was younger I wanted to be a singer and tour the world. Then I wanted to be a best-selling author. I became neither of those but I am a writer and self-published author, and I just want to be able to earn an income from home so I can look after Athena.
2. My next novel will be another fantasy involving cats.
3. The sound of loud crowds and screaming, shrieking, screeching kids and women makes me cringe. Any loud noise really, unless it's my favourite piece of music.
4. Right now, I am craving chocolate.

1. I just had a wash and I'm going to nap.

Purple Halloween #CaturdayArt

Mum loves purple and she wanted a purple-themed Caturday Art post today. First, she tinted my photo purple in PicMonkey...

and then decided she wanted to enhance my beautiful eyes and so she turned them bright green. Then she left PicMonkey and went to PizAp where she found this lovely Halloween frame that matched purrfectly!

Halloween Art with PicMonkey #caturdayart

I reminded Mum that Halloween is soon upon us and that it's now time to get some art practice in. I've got to say it, and we're sure many would agree with us, that this is the most fun time of the year in which to get creative with your photos!

There are lots of free editing apps and programs out there which can help you achieve amazing Halloween art but today we're looking at PicMonkey.

It's what Mum used in order to create this crazy scary photo of me. Isn't it fab?

Mum had been using the free version of PicMonkey for ages but it was clear that there were some fantastic-looking effects that would undoubtedly create awesome pawsome results but which she couldn't use because they weren't free.

Mum decided to go elsewhere and so she experimented with many of the other free online editing sites and apps and stuff. As I already said, there are some fine editing apps out there available to use for free. But recently Mum has started designing new cover art for her Blood of the Gods vampire trilogy and as she is useless with Photoshop and gets easily frustrated, I suggested to her that maybe she should go back to PicMonkey. "There's a free 7-day trial," I said, "and you could test out all those other effects you were so curious about."

So she took her wise kitty's advice and signed up and has spent the last few days busy with her art. But then she thought, "Wait, I'm using all these amazing effects, graphics, textures and fonts for my books but what about Athena's Caturday Art Blog Hop? Halloween is coming up soon, and Christmas ain't too far away 🙀 so it makes sense to continue with the subscription!"


The PicMonkey Basic subscription is purrfect for unleashing your creative photo editing potential. It's certainly unlocked Mum's creativity as she can sit there staring at that computer for hours. Mum only needs the Basic plan as she isn't rich and to be honest with you, we both think it should be cheaper, but as she really needs the extra features right now, she is willing to continue her subscription for a while to see what other fantastic photo art and graphics she comes up with. And I can't wait to see her new book covers!

Easy Like Sunday

Two photos today! Here I am in a vintage style photo (Mum thought it was a bit overexposed and as she was in a hurry she just quickly added the yester-year effect in Picmonkey to improve the image slightly.) I like it!

In this photo you can tell I am looking at something. It's not a bird, but a bug of some sort on the ground. I look like I'm about to pounce.

So, as you can see, it was not so Easy Sunday in this pic.

In the second pic however, which is from my mum's Instagram account, I am finally getting down to some easy laid back Sunday time. Hope you can all join me!
