Flashback Friday to September 2017

Happy Feline Friday!

Today we are flashing back to September 2017 with this pic.

We were in the middle of moving house. It took a long time to sell our old house in London and Mum was feeling stressy. We also hadn't found a house to buy yet either. Mum thought she never would. But 7 months later we did eventually move to Essex and now I also have my own catio.

MARIE
1. I am particular about cleaning my hands with antibacterial wipes when I'm out and about. I don't like germs.
2. My favourite animal is a cat. But you already knew that.
3. Having Athena snuggle up to me on the bed when she was a tiny kitten on the very first night I brought her home from Wood Green The Animals Charity is a moment I will never forget.
4. Have you ever heard of people hating sunshine? Yes, that's me. But hate is a strong word. I dislike it and it makes me irritable when it's too bright. My eyes are really sensitive. Maybe it's the heat that annoys me though because cold sunny winter and autumn days are lovely.

ATHENA
1. I am particular about my daily routine and I make sure that Mum lives by it every day.
2. My favourite food is chicken.
3. Being fed by Mum Marie the very first day she adopted me is a moment I will never forget. She made sure I had lots (or I did).
4. Have you ever heard of a cat being subservient to a human? This kitty sure isn't 😻

Sunday Selfie and Friendly Fill-Ins, Plus New Window Shutters

Happy Sunday!

We used to have black Venetian blinds when we first moved in but they were not to Mum's taste but more the previous owners' taste so we always knew we would change them eventually.

Mum decided on Plantation Shutters in white.

Here they are in our bedroom. This is not a very good angle for me but Mum needed to get those bedroom shutters in the shot...

Thanks for making my bum look big from this angle, Mum!

These are the old black blinds that were left by previous owners

They looked quite good in the bedroom because it matched Mum's Scandinavian theme of black and white decor. But they were broke blinds so she had to get rid anyway. 

These vertical blinds on our patio door weren't too great and were falling apart (nothing to do with me, by the way!). Mum thought they were awful (apart from the nice blue pattern on them)

But they've now gone too and here is the new look French door below.
  As you can see, as all wise cats do, when the noisy man left I came downstairs to investigate...

This pic above of the living room is spooky, don't you think? That's Mum's reflection as she took the photo from indoors looking out. She looks like a ghost in the window. By the way, this is the window that when open, leads into my catio. 

This is the front window that faces the street and is part of our living room.

My verdict. 

These shutters look great but it's harder for me to look out of the window. Mum says my Birdie TV will always be available to me as I can look through the louvers when she tilts them open for me. She can open one of the panels where I am able to get a larger, more clearer view. She will need to open a panel to let me out into my catio, that's for sure.

Oh, and the patio door panels will be open during the day. So, great, I can spy on those birdies after all!

1. Vegan chocolate is tasty.
2. If I was going to a Halloween party, I would go as a cat or maybe a witch.
3. If everything goes according to plan, I am happy and relaxed.
4. The change in atmosphere around my dad's hospital bed the night before he passed is probably the spookiest thing I have ever experienced. I just felt that there was an immense presence around me. I know that my grandmother (his mother) was there in spirit, waiting to help her son over to the other side. It's something I can't describe but it gave me shivers. 


ATHENA

1. Chicken is tasty.

2. If I was going to a Halloween party, I would go as my mum? Or my mum dressed as a witch. A witch's cat!

3. If everything goes according to plan, all is well in my world as it is in Mum's.

4. Nothing much spooks a cat so I don't think I've had the spookiest thing I have ever experienced. I see spirits around Mum all the time. I've seen Granddad (I never met him in this life but I see him close to Mum sometimes).

Happy Caturday!

I spend most of my time in my Mum's bedroom/office. It's my room too. I have lots of my stuff in here. My PetFusion scratcher is right next to the bed. I also sleep on the bed with Mum and under the bed by myself.

I have lots of room to run and play, window sill to sit and watch some great birdie TV. I can even watch the birdies whilst laying on the bed. I have a great view of all my kingdom and I can have a nosy on the neighbours and other furries. So far I have spotted many dogs walking by with their humans on their way to the woods. I've also seen a couple of neighbour's cats walking in the road. They better keep their distance or else!

It's Our One Year Anniversary Since Moving House #CaturdayArt

On Thursday 9th May we celebrated our 1 year anniversary since moving from North London to Essex.

This is one of Mum's favourite photos of me taken about a week after moving in. Don't I look so comfy and at ease?

Today, Mum used the PicsArt app again for this lovely photo art.

Here is the original photo below.  Mum interrupted my people watching at the front window. Our new road is fairly quiet and there aren't that many people walking about. I've seen a few dogs going for walkies with their humans but hardly any cats. I'm glad I got away from that bully tomcat at my old place. He was horrid and used to come up to the patio door and tease me for being an indoor cat.

I'm still waiting for that catio Mum promised. She's been busy with other stuff and I understand why she needs to see to that first.

#WhiskersWednesday Catio Dilemma

Happy Whiskers Wednesday! 

Mum and I would like to thank those of you who took the time to comment on Sunday's post. Mum had been feeling really down and worthless and so it helped her so much to read your thoughts and advice. She is kind of lonely as most of the people in her life have been toxic and she has had to cut them out for her own sanity and well-being. Kind-hearted, sensitive souls always attract these energy-suckers with their negative vibes, don't they?

Anyway, she says she is feeling better and is trying to focus on the good stuff (although it's easier said than done in her case). The new house is keeping her occupied right now.  It's looking pretty cool as you can see from most of our photos lately. The rooms have great lighting for one thing, which results in some quality photos! Before I post some Instagram updates for you today, I want to ask (well, Mum wants to ask) if those of you in the UK have had a catio installed, which company did you hire? A lot of the quotes coming back to Mum have been too expensive and as we said in our post on Sunday, Mum is having a hard time financially with not being in work due to illness. We don't even want a massive catio as our garden is quite small and we want it to be aesthetically pleasing and to look like it's part of the house. If only Mum could do it herself, but obviously she can't. So, UK cat owners (or pet parents, etc) can you recommend anyone?

She is actually worrying about it because she wants me to enjoy some fresh air (now that we finally have it because it was seriously lacking where we used to live.) We get an amazing breeze from the woodland nearby 😻

Sunday Selfie and Something Extra (plus Friendly Fill-Ins)

Happy Sunday!

After last night's scary thunderstorms it is bright and sunny today, and also warmer. I spent the morning watching bird TV and now I'm ready for my afternoon nap 😺

Mum took some snaps as she walked to the shops the other day. She is so happy to be surrounded by trees. Her soul was dying back at our old place. 

I hope I get to see some of this wonderful nature too. She says she'll get a car (though she hasn't driven in years so is maybe a little rusty) so she can drive me around. Maybe she'll get me a stroller too, but the next thing on the list has to be the catio she has been wanting to get me for so long now so she'll be making enquiries early next week. Can't wait!

Look at me! I am so contented as I sleep on Mum's bed in our new bedroom. I love our new room because in the morning sun puddles splash through the window and land on the bed.

Sunday Selfies in our New Home

I am settling into our new house very well. It was a nightmare getting here and the first few days were terrifying and I hid in our new bedroom behind boxes but now I've started to relax and go wandering around the house. I like it. It has a nice vibe. Haven't spotted any cats yet. Our garden is small and neat. Mum says we shall get a catio installed soon but she's waiting for us all to settle first (and save some money).
