Happy 8th Birthday to me!

Can you believe that I'm 8 years old? No, neither can we. To Mum, I'm still her baby girl. And I like being her baby! But I'm an independent kitty goddess too, and wise with it, like my namesake.

Birthday Commentathon

On Tuesday it's my 8th birthday and we're having a Commentathon. This is our favourite charity to support because if it wasn't for them we would never have found each other. 1. 13 years ago, I was working hard on my novels, dreaming of being published and becoming a successful author. I am now published, albeit self-published,  but haven't had much success. Another dream dead. But there's still hope, I know. Until then I'll keep blogging and writing.
2. By this time next year, I hope to be better off financially as right now I'm struggling.
3. One word that describes me is sensitive. Too sensitive sometimes.
4. If my life were a book or movie, it would be in the drama genre. Hopefully, I get a happy ending though.

#CharityTuesday Update on Commentathon

Remember our commentathon the other week?

We raised some funds for Wood Green The Animals Charity and put it towards purchasing items from their wishlist. You may also remember handsome Makhulu, the Devon Rex, from our Charity Tuesday post last week. Sadly, this lovely cat is still waiting for his forever home, but he has claimed the scratching post we sent him and he's really loving it. Of course he wasn't impressed with the carrier (why would he be?)

He is so nice he even took the time to thank me as you can see from this tweet!

To help him find a forever home we are posting his video again to show potential adopters what a handsome wonderful guy he is. We really can't understand why no one has adopted him yet! If you want a handsome striking cat and live in England in Godmanchester or surrounding areas, why not pop in to the shelter and give him a visit. He has been through quite a lot recently, and really deserves some TLC to build up his confidence again.

We're also sharing a dog video today.  This is Squash.

Lovely Squash has a 'unique charm' and you will soon fall in love with him once you meet him. He would like to live as the only pet in the home and as he has some nerves around handling, slightly older children would be the best companions for him rather than younger kids. #CharityTuesday Our Commentathon Donation & a Devon Rex Needs a Home

As a rescue kitty myself I want to help other rescue pets find their forever home, so each week on Charity Tuesday I will be sharing adoptable cats from Wood Green, the Animals Charity (which is where I was rescued). We are so grateful to this amazing charity because without them we would never have found each other! It's also one of the main charities we support.

UPDATE ON OUR BLOGOVERSARY COMMENTATHON

Thanks to those of you who left comments on our blogoversary post last week, we raised £30 and so today Mum ordered these items for the kitties at Wood Green from the charity's Amazon Wishlist.

We hope the cats like their gift (though maybe not the carrier, as we kitties don't like carriers), but we're sure it'll come in useful at the shelter.

Now for this week's homeless cat. 

Check out Makhulu. This striking guy is looking for his forever home. He has been through quite a lot recently, and will need a loving home where he can build up his confidence again.

It's Our 5th Blogoversary! Let's Celebrate! #commentathon

We've been blogging for five years now. Can you believe that?

And it's been quite an amazing, awe-inspiring journey. We've learned a lot in five years. Well, Mum has. I'm a cat so I'm wise already. 

Mum says she's been tremendously inspired by all the fantastic pet bloggers who not only take the time to write such informative posts, but are also such nice people who really love their pets. We are both happy to have you all as blogging pals and furriends. 

It's incredible really, this blogging world, isn't it? Pet bloggers really are the bestest bunch of people in the universe: friendly, welcoming, warmhearted, and let's not forget very creative. We have been inspired by each and every one of you. 

To celebrate our 5 year blogoversary Mum is going to make a donation of £1 for every comment made in this post to Wood Green The Animals' Charity, the amazing charity who rescued me when I was a homeless kitten dumped on the streets. UPDATE: COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED

HERE IS OUR VERY FIRST POST

Hi, this is my first post. Mummy said I should have my own blog so here I am. My name, as you of course know, is Athena. It was my mummy's idea. She says it's because she has always loved that name and she wished she had been called that instead of Marie. She dreamed of giving it to her daughter one day, but as she hasn't got a human daughter, she gave me that name instead, I am of course her daughter too, just a feline one. I know she prefers cats to humans, anyway.

The idea of cat goddess is of course Mum's. She always calls me her little goddess, and let's face it, that's how she treats me, and I love it. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Here's me with Mummy back in July when I was a baby. It was taken during my first week with her. Look how happy she is. I love her so much. She had been having a hard time lately, so I'm so glad I have made her smile properly. A real smile reaches the eyes, and as you can she, she is smiling with hers and not just with her lips.
