New Animal-Themed T-Shirt Store #whiskerswednesday

It's more of a wordy whiskers Wednesday today as Mum wants to tell you about her new online vegan clothing store.

I feature on only one t-shirt so far - the Rescue Cats Rock boxy tee, here modelled by Mum Marie. As you can see, she turned me blue for this pen art design. I like how it really blends with the lovely blue shade of the product.

Furry Blanket Sunday Selfie and Animal Rights Day

 Happy Sunday 😻

Enjoying my Easy Sunday on my furry blanket on the bed. The blanket is not made of fur - Mum is an animal rights activist and vegan so of course, she wouldn't allow it. It's a furry blanket because just look at how it's covered in my own beautiful fur. Mum brushes the fur from the blanket every day and also grooms me every day but at this time of year my fur falls out a lot. Mum's own hair falls out too.

Mum forgot that it was National Animal Rights Day today. Her head as you know has been all over the place lately. However, every day should be for the animals, shouldn't it? Especially for us felines.

Theirs Too. in 2011, The National Animal Rights Day (NARD) is an annual day observed in a growing number of countries around the world, on the first Sunday in June, for the purpose of giving a voice to all animals and raising awareness for their rights. It's "Memorial Day" and "Independence Day" for the animals, combined.

On this day, special NARD events are held in major cities around the world, to Commemorate the billions of animals who die every year by human hands, Educate the public about the cruelty-free, plant-based alternatives, and Celebrate the progress that is being made towards ending the suffering of animals. This Day will continue to be observed until all animals are free from enslavement and their rights are established and protected by law.

World Animal Day Sunday Selfie

Today we are joining the thousands of other organizations and individuals around the globe in celebrating World Animal Day. We are proud to support this global movement to highlight the status of animals by using this special day to raise awareness for pet rescue and animals in need.

About World Animal Day

Heinrich Zimmerman organized the first World Animal Day on 24th March 1925 in Berlin and moved it to October 4 in 1929.  Every year he promoted World Animal Day and finally, in 1931 at a congress of the world’s animal protection organizations in Florence, Italy, his proposal to make October 4 World Animal Day was unanimously accepted. October 4 was chosen as it’s the Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.

It's amazing that today, World Animal Day has become a global celebration for all animals and the people who love and respect them.  It’s known on every continent and celebrated in different ways in many countries, with no regard to nationality, religion or political ideology.

As an animal rights advocate, Mum always tries to do her bit to help animals each day. If it wasn't for social media she would not be able to do it because Mum hates to leave the house. She has social anxiety and depression, and since COVID, her anxiety is worse than ever.

What keeps her going is me (of course!) and the need to speak up for ALL animals. It breaks her heart seeing the horrors man has inflicted and still inflicts on animals. That's why she's vegan as well.  Don't worry, she won't make me vegan too as I am her main priority and she would never put me in any danger. She accepts that I'm an obligate carnivore, meaning that I need to eat meat to survive. 

As a rescue cat, I too want to do my bit in helping homeless animals find forever homes. I do it through my social media too.

Whilst Mum and I hate to post about politics here - this is very important.

This Animal Day for the UK General Election 2019 we are calling on all political parties to tell voters what they will do to improve animal welfare.

Mum supports the Animal Welfare Party and so we want to give them a shout out on my blog. They do so much for animals and deserve to be heard - for the animals, and for people and the environment.

We're pleased to hear that the Animal Welfare Party has recently announced the 6 candidates contesting the 2019 General Election.

Unfortunately, there is no candidate standing in our constituency in the Essex town where we now live. When we lived in London, Mum could vote for them. Now she can't. 

However, we will continue to support the party - for the animals!

This is absolutely shocking and heartbreaking. Most cat lovers are probably unaware that this barbaric cruelty is still going on in the 21st Century 😿💔

How can any person do this? Horrific and no need!😡😾

America’s schools and universities are responsible for the killing of thousands of cats, using the animals’ lifeless bodies for dissection in a practice that is completely outdated and unnecessary.
The cats whose lives are callously tossed away are often lost pets, ferals or shelter animals who are injected with formaldehyde and vacuum-sealed in plastic bags so students can cut them up in science class.
In some horrifying cases, the corpses are abused in student “games.” Online videos have exposed students using dead cats in a choreographed “dance,” and jumping rope with the intestines of dissected felines. In one video, the corpse of a cat is placed on a car windshield as a practical joke.
The fact that many medical schools no longer use animal dissection indicates there is absolutely no need for this barbaric practice.
Not only is dissection borne from animal abuse, but it encourages young people to de-value the lives of animals, and desensitizes students to animal suffering.
Sign this petition to urge the United States Secretary of Education to ban cat dissection in all places of learning and use humane alternatives to teach science in America’s classrooms."

Mumsey is an affectionate, older lady of 15 years and is looking for a loving, forever home to spend her retirement years. This pretty lady has spent most of her life living in a hotel enjoyed greeting guests and staff members and simply enjoying all the fuss and attention. Mumsey is being looked after by the Heydon centre. Find out more here.
