Suzy #CaturdayArt

Today's Caturday Art is dedicated to Mum's other soulmate cat, Suzy.

Sweet Suzy left for the Rainbow Bridge on the 29th June 1998.

She was a cute kitty, for sure.

Sunday Selfie and Remembering Suzy

We hope you are having a great Sunday!

Here is my Sunday Selfie. I took it myself (OK, with a little help from Mum).

tabby cat

The 29th June 1998 is the anniversary of when sweet Suzy crossed the Bridge. She was 13 years old and Mum was in her early 30s but she was 19 when she got Suzy as a tiny kitten.

Feline Flashback PhotoFail Friday

Happy Feline Friday!

This is a flashback photo, but as my face looks a bit blurry it could be a photo fail. However, it's too sweet and cute to be a fail, beaming with the purity of true love between cat mum and her fur baby πŸ’šπŸ’œπŸ˜½πŸ˜˜

This one though is a fail! Overexposed and blurry. Mum could have tried to fix it up a little but she couldn't be bothered and so this remains a purrfect Pet Photo Fail!

Homes can be found for these rescued cats in the UK and other European countries as it's hard to get people to adopt pets in Cyprus (unfortunately many locals treat them as vermin) :( 😑 πŸ‘Ώ 😼😿

Remembering Suzy #CaturdayArt

Happy Caturday!

We are dedicating today's post to the very beautiful Suzy, who was Mum's soulmate cat before me.

She crossed the bridge on the 29th June 1998 and Mum misses her deeply.

I helped Mum create this art of Suzy using the LunaPic Fairy Effect.

On Wednesday we remembered my cousin Molly and created some art of her which you can see HERE.

My Valentine is My Pet and Here is Why #sundayselfie

Valentine Selfie

Mum and I are close. Very close.

But you all know that.

So here is Mum to tell you that it doesn't matter if you are single and don't have a Valentine this year.

Why?

Well, love isn't just romantic love, is it?

You can love your parents, grandparents, children, friends and of course, your darling PETS!

In fact, the love between pets and humans can be very strong indeed. Some might say it's the strongest.

HERE IS MUM TO TELL YOU WHY.

"My darling Athena is my Valentine because I feel complete when I'm with her. And I can't say that I've ever truly felt like that with anyone else (human).

Ever since the day we rescued each other in July 2011 we have taken care of each other.

When I'm down, she knows it and tries to make it all better. She sticks by me, purrs and makes biscuits on me. How soothing for the soul is that! I don't think anything else can compare.

We kiss and cuddle all the time throughout the day, and neither one of us feels smothered. If Athena doesn't like it I can sense it and back off for a while. But most of the time she loves her mummy's kisses and cuddles πŸ’•

Cats are great for someone like me. A human with depression and anxiety. Athena really helps to reduce the stress I feel most days. When my mind is gripped by yet another beastly negative thought - usually that I am a loser and don't have a future - I've learned to bring my thoughts back to the present and focus on the moment. Just like a cat.

Yes, cats are experts in 'mindfulness' aren't they?

Athena has the loudest purr and I love to put my ear close to her so I can feel that magical vibration and hear the sweet music of the soul that seems to heal every bone in my body and every panicky thought in my unquiet mind.

She makes me feel loved and needed. For example, I know that I can't stay in bed in the morning because my little one needs feeding. And as every cat parent knows, you don't need an alarm when you have a cat!

I trust her. I don't need her to tell me anything. Her thoughts and actions speak loudly to me. It's like we exist in our own little world, or on the same spiritual plane, so far removed from the insanity of human life, with its materialistic shallowness, greed and desire to destroy everything on this planet. All this stuff simply overwhelms me and I regularly need an escape.

And what better way than to escape into the world of cat.

Where I find nothing but pure true love.

And I wouldn't have it any other way because you can never be lonely if you have a pet.

So go on, adopt your furry soulmate today and experience the true meaning of love!"

Wordless Whiskers Wednesday

wordless whiskers wednesday

Just heard that it's Best Friends Day. My Best Friend just has to be my mum. Not only is she my human mother, but we are the bestest friends there is. We do almost everything together and I inspire her creativity. Best of all, we are soulmates. Mum says she thinks we are twin souls as well. We make each other happy. In fact, we rescued each other.

Melt Your Heart Monday

Happy Monday!

We hope your Monday is stress free but even if you have a lot of stress in your life, or suffer from depression like my mum, I'm sure your pet helps you enormously. We don't need any scientific facts to prove what animal lovers have known all along, do we?

Animals, especially those you choose to share your home with, are great relievers of stress and can help people with mental health issues like depression and anxiety cope better.

Here is a short clip of me helping Mum with her stress and anxiety issues the other day.

Watch on YouTube if you can't view it here.

Caturday Art Special: Remembering Suzy

Happy Caturday!

As I said earlier this week, during this month we are remembering Mum's first soulmate cat, Suzy.

Though I'm quite a jealous kitty and want Mum all to myself, I am happy to have her devote this Caturday Art post to Suzy.

And here is Suzy with Mum in 1996 - a very long time ago! Mum used to have long reddish brown hair and it does look very red in this pic! The quality of this pic wasn't good, quite blurry in fact, but as you can see, Mum has given it an improved look in PhotoFunia using the watercolour effect. Good job, Mum!

Hug Your Cat Day

We weren't going to post here today as Mum has already done a post on her blog but as it's Hug Your Cat Day I decided I wanted a post too!

It's not really that big a deal for us because every day is Hug Your Cat Day in our house, but any excuse to share a photo of me and my mum :)

Happy Hug Your Cat Day everyone. Hope all my furry friends and those poor kitties in shelters all waiting for forever homes get a hug too. Mum wants to send all of them a big hug :)

10 Ways a Cat and Her Human Mum Show Their Love For One Another

We know everyone is feeling the love this Valentine Week, but it's important to note (as we know many of you animal lovers do), that Valentine's Day is not only about romantic love. Why should it be? As a wise kitty goddess I am here to tell you that love, and certainly 'purrfect' love can be found with your adorable and adoring pets. So let us celebrate this beautiful love!
A photo posted by Athena (@athenawisekitty) on

As you can see, Mum and I are totally in love with each other. Here are some of the ways we show our love for one another.

1 Cuddles
We love to cuddle. Mum is always cuddling me. And because I love her I let her hug me tight. If I'm not in the mood I soon let her know though! Cuddles and Snuggles under the duvet on a cold day (and night) are just the best.

2 Purrs I purr all the time to show Mum how much she means to me and how happy she makes me. I also purr to calm her when she's stressed. This calms me too.
3 Eye gaze/slow blink We gaze at each other. A lot. And then I slow blink at her. Mum has learned to do this too back to me.

4 We listen to each other I let Mum talk to me when she needs to. Sometimes she needs to complain and she has a lot on her mind. She feels misunderstood a lot of the time by humans so she finds me far more understanding.

5 Take care of each other We always look out for each other and there is never a moment when we are not thinking of each other.

6 Play together We have lots of fun playing games, as you can see from this video below, and this one
A video posted by Athena (@athenawisekitty) on
7 Sleep together We share a big bed and I love to snuggle up against her at night, especially when it's very cold. Sometimes I crawl under the duvet for a nice cuddle.
8 Heal each other My purrs heal my mum, but she also gives me Reiki healing which is great for me too.

9 Take lots of selfies together

10 I like to lick my mum's hand and arm, as you can see from this video.

Wordless Wednesday Wisdom

OK, well Mum and I were having a talk about this blog the other day and we realised that even though I am a wise cat, I haven't been sharing much wisdom with my readers, which is a bit embarrassing to say the least. So having come to that conclusion, we will now start giving you some weekly wisdom. We were going to call this post Wednesday Wisdom as it has a nice ring to it due to the alliteration thing going on. Unfortunately, it clashed with the Wordless Wednesday hop, so in the end we decided to add the Wisdom to Wordless Wednesday (which sounds good too!)

This week's kitty wisdom:

Worried about never finding your soulmate? Well, have you looked into your fur baby's eyes? Perhaps in this life your soulmate just happens to have paws.

A soulmate connection doesn't necessarily have to be a romantic one. It could be a friend, parent, son, daughter.... or your little furry four-legged friend.

My Gotcha Day!

It's been three years since I was adopted from Wood Green, the Animal Charity. Mum can't believe it as it seems like only yesterday when she brought me home.

This is where it all began. I had another name (which my Mum has kept as my middle name). Interesting thing is, Sophie is another Greek name and means wisdom, as is Athena, Goddess of Wisdom. So, that makes me an extra wise kitty!

Mum took this from her computer using her phone after she reserved me at the shelter, so sorry for bad quality.
Here we are together, just a few days after we rescued each other. I know you've probably seen it before, but for the benefit of new readers, here it is again (I know, I was so tiny and cute!)

Look how cute I was!

Caturday Art: Suzy, a special cat.

Today, we are remembering my mum's other soulmate kitty, Suzy, who passed over the Rainbow Bridge sixteen years ago today. As you can see, she was a beautiful Tuxedo cat.

Suzy 1985-98

Suzy lived with my mum for 13 years and was a very special cat. My mum loved her so much. It was a long time before I came along, but I know that Mum was the best parent to her. Just like she is to me. She instinctively knows what we felines need. I think she is definitely one of us.

I know she took care of Suzy and Suzy returned her love. She always knew when my mum felt down and looked after her.

Mum is writing a book about beautiful Suzy as a tribute. It's a cat fairytale story. Mum tells me it's almost done, but she always says that. Sometimes she finds it hard to keep motivated. However, I shall push her to finish it, and hopefully one day soon you will all be able to read it!

Love you, Suzy, even though I never met you in this life. Mum sends her love as always xxx

Purrs xx
