Remembering Suzy Sunday Selfies

Tuxedo cat on the stairs

Today we are remembering Suzy, Mum's beloved Tuxie cat from the 1980s and 1990s. Mum's late brother Uncle John found her at a pet shop and said he chose her because she was the quietest of her kitty sibblings, who were all running around and meowing a lot. It was fate, obviously, and she became the family cat for 13 years.

Mum quickly and happily grabbed the role of being her cat mummy and took the most care for her.

With the help of BeFunky Old Photo Restorer AI, Mum tried to enhance the photos in this post. Some were so blurry due to the cameras of the time.

AI can look unrealistic at times but we think these pics aren't bad at all.

Rest In Peace, Suzy xx

Suzy #CaturdayArt

Today's Caturday Art is dedicated to Mum's other soulmate cat, Suzy.

Sweet Suzy left for the Rainbow Bridge on the 29th June 1998.

She was a cute kitty, for sure.

Remembering Suzy Sunday Selfies

Today we are remembering Mum's cat Suzy, who sadly crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 29th June 1998 at the age of 13 years. Mum wrote about her in The Cat Years: How My Cat Soulmates Saved Me and Suzy even got to be a star in Mum's novel The Snowflake Pendant.

Black and white cat
Sweet Suzy was born sometime in May 1985. Mum had lost her previous kitty, Cas (another tuxedo kitty) a few months previously. She just went out and never returned. Mum and her brother John were devastated. Mum decided that she didn't want another cat because she was heartbroken. However, a few months later John was passing a pet shop and went in and spotted this adorable little black and white kitten sitting there looking lost and lonely amongst her loud and boisterous siblings. He told Mum that he'd picked her because she was different. It was meant to be!

John bought Suzy and brought her home (things were different then - Mum would never buy a cat now since there are so many homeless pets in shelters).

Suzy doing what cats do

Mum fell in love with adorable little tiny Suzy and her big round baby blue eyes. Looking back, Mum says Suzy was far too young to be sold by the greedy pet shop owner. Suzy was so little, squeaky and helpless as you can see. But she was a lucky kitty as she received so much love and care from my mum and Uncle John.

You can see below how small Suzy was on the picure of her sitting on Uncle John's lap.

Suzy was Mum's other soulmate cat. The little black and white cutie with beautiful green eyes and tender nature helped Mum through the ups and downs of late teens and through her 20s. Uncle John was her daddy really, since he was the one who bought her. She was there for him too throughout his rather troubled life. But they had some fun times too. Suzy could be funny as you can see below. Suzy loved her family so much.

Funny Suzy

Mum loved Suzy like her baby and took the most care of her. Granny looked after her too and Suzy loved my late granddad (who I never met because he died the year before Mum adopted me).

Mum is teary-eyed as she writes this post. She misses Suzy still, but next month will be the one year anniversary of her brother John's death. He was one month short of his 52nd birthday. He was taken too soon and it's been a shock for us all as he died suddenly in his sleep from heart failure.

Long Neck Sunday Selfie

tabby cat

Good selfie, but it could also be our Pet Photo Fail because Mum's hair got in the way and my neck looks like a giraffe's!

Anyway, today I'm taking care of Mum as she remembers her other soulmate kitty, Suzy, who crossed over the Rainbow Bridge in 1998. Mum got her as a tiny kitty back in 1985.

Give my mum a visit on Purrs Full of Love to read more about beautiful, sweet Suzy. I know it's not right to feel jealous on a day like today, and of course I don't. My mum has a big heart when it comes to animals. Suzy looks like a sweet kitty. I'm glad she made my mum happy.

Here's one pic of Suzy.

FRIENDLY FILL-INS

1. The grossest food I ever ate was ___________________.
2. The best tasting food I ever had was _______________.
3. I should probably _________, but I won’t.
4. If I could have an unlimited supply of one item, I would pick _________.

Marie

1. The grossest food I ever ate was meat. I went veggie when I was 18 and was healthy I thought but  I became anaemic at 36 because of my inherited blood disorder and probably the boozing I had done for years before that, not because of what I ate. But I got scared and had everyone telling me to eat meat so I gave in. When you anaemic you feel light headed and tired all the time. I panicked I would faint so I started eating lamb's liver and chicken. I feel sick now thinking about it as a vegan (since 2014).
2. The best tasting food I ever had was a lentil and cheese bake that I make myself.
3. I should probably give up chocolate, but I won’t. I can't drink alcohol anymore so what else do I have?
4. If I could have an unlimited supply of one item, I would pick chocolate and cat food. I'd hate to run out of Athena's cat food, which I buy online and it's from Germany. Only good quality food for Athena!

Athena

1. The grossest food I ever ate was some renal food the vet told Mum to give me. It was crap. Mum found Kattovit, much better!
2. The best tasting food I ever had was boiled chicken. I can't get enough!
3. I should probably not eat so much, but I won’t.
4. If I could have an unlimited supply of one item, I would pick chicken.

Tuxedo Cat Appreciation Day #FlashbackFriday

As it's Tuxedo Cat Appreciation Day I am allowing Mum to post a photo of her darling Tuxedo cat Suzy (1985-98).

Here is a photo of her, with an arty one below. Mum wishes she had so many more pics of Suzy as these are mostly low-quality - taken on old 80s and 90s cameras.

FRIENDLY FILL-INS

Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two and co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with the second two.

1. So far 2021 is ____________________.
2. A book (movie or song) title that best describes my life is ___________________________.
3. _________ was a pleasant surprise.
4. I learned that _________ is a recipe for disaster.

MARIE

1. So far 2021 is moving too fast. It's just so scary how quickly each year goes by.
2. A book (movie or song) title that best describes my life is - there are just so many that I can't think of one right now. Maybe The Escapist by Nightwish. I've always hated reality, always want to escape it. It hasn't got me very far, but I'm a dreamer.

ATHENA

3. Extra treats today from Mum was a pleasant surprise.
4. I learned that annoying Mum at night when she's just got into bed is a recipe for disaster. She does shout sometimes - though she will never hurt me. After I've got the result I wanted (I like getting her annoyed as I'm such a tease),  I'll jump straight into bed, knowing she will quickly forgive me. I then snuggle against her legs and sleep. Hopefully, this calms her down too.

Sunday Selfie and Remembering Suzy

We hope you are having a great Sunday!

Here is my Sunday Selfie. I took it myself (OK, with a little help from Mum).

tabby cat

The 29th June 1998 is the anniversary of when sweet Suzy crossed the Bridge. She was 13 years old and Mum was in her early 30s but she was 19 when she got Suzy as a tiny kitten.
