Happy Cat Month

So I hear that it’s Happy Cat Month.

Let me tell you right now that I am a very happy cat, as I'm sure you can all tell. I feel so lucky to have found such a wonderful and loving forever home. I wish every cat the same thing. My mum is perfect (apart from a little moodiness, but my purrs and affection soon calm her down). She gives me endless attention (apart from when she is busy at the computer, iPhone or reading her Kindle Fire. She also doesn't pay me much attention when she's looking at videos of other cats on YouTube or reading Your Cat magazine. That's when I get jealous and I do silly things to get her attention.

What silly things?

I scratch the wallpaper.

Other than that, as I said, my mum is perfect and she does everything to make me happy.

How?

She answers my every meow, even if I'm only teasing her. She lets me sit and sleep anywhere, and if I'm sleeping on her leg at night she'll never move it in case she disturbs me. I also get lots of hugs and kisses. A lot of the time she wants to play with me so I have to comply. I mean, when I read her thoughts she thinks I might put on weight if I don't "exercise". OK, maybe she's right. Playing can be fun and I enjoy a little run around before bedtime (when I know she'd rather chill out in front of the TV).

Most of all I am happy because my mum never says NO to me.

Now it's my mum's turn.

Athena: What do I do to make you happy, Mum?

Marie: I think everything you do makes me happy, Athena. Apart from when you scratch the wallpaper and sofa to shreds. Or when you don't come up to bed when I'm tired, or when you won't eat wet food, or when...

Athena: OK, Mum. I don't want to know what makes you unhappy. I want to know what is it that I do that MAKES YOU HAPPY. Didn't you say, everything I do makes you happy?

Marie: Yes. Apart from all the above that make me unhappy, everything else you do does makes me very happy indeed. You are everything to me, Sweetie.

Athena: Like what, Mum?

Marie: Your purrs make me happy. It is the closest thing to heaven hearing you purr and feeling those healing vibrations. It's more powerful than any pill. You calm me down when I'm anxious or stressed. You follow me around all the time and make me feel special and loved. You make me feel appreciated and make every day worth waking up for. You stop me feeling blue. You give me hope. You help me chase away those fears. You make me proud. When you sit on my lap it is the greatest feeling ever.

Athena: Aww.. thanks, Mum. I love you xxxx

Love you too, sweetheart xxxxxx
