June is National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month so let's get sharing and raising awareness for all those kitties who are longing for a forever home. They deserve it!

Looking for a cat to adopt in the UK but unsure of where to look locally?

Check out the online cat rescue resource CatChat.org   

"Cat Chat is a web-based registered charity sourcing new, loving homes for currently over 10,000 unwanted and abandoned cats annually from rescue shelters across the UK and Ireland through our Virtual Cat Shelters."

Cat Chat offers free Cat Homing web-pages to any UK or Ireland based rescue centre or rehoming group. For people looking to rehome a cat in their area, this is great news. And of course for the rescue kitties, even greater news!

The charity also has a section dedicated to 'Overlooked' cats. These are cats who sadly find themselves waiting longer than normal to be rehomed. Often these cats are elderly or have a medical condition.

Overlooked cats

Keano and Ozzy at Wood Green, The Animals Charity have sadly been overlooked. We've featured them before and it's really sad to see that they are still waiting for their forever home.

Keano is FIV+  and really needs to be in a home where there are no visiting cats in his garden. If you have a home like this and you can ensure that he has a nice safe garden and that you can give all the love and attention this handsome tabby boy loves then check out his profile for more information.

Ozzy is looking for an adult only home. Once he builds a bond with you he will be a very affectionate boy who loves to follow you around like a little shadow and curl up on your lap. When he needs some alone time he will happily take himself off for a nap. He would prefer to be the only animal in the home. Rescue a cat from abroad

Have you thought of adopting a cat from abroad? You can adopt  a rescue kitty from an international cat charity like Nine Lives Greece 

Cats like Julieta, a beautiful girl cat who was an abandoned kitten. This pretty lady was found at a dog park with her siblings on a hot day when she was only 2 months old. Thankfully, they all escaped death. Julieta was soon adopted but, due to unforeseen life issues of her previous owner, she needs to be re-homed and is currently back in foster care. Poor baby :(

Now almost two years old, spayed and vaccinated, Julieta is looking for a calm home with no other cats, where she will be cherished and spoiled the way she deserves! Find out more about this adorable lady here.

This week is also Volunteer's Week and we'd like to thank all the volunteers who work hard for abandoned pets all over the world. I'm especially thanking Wood Green, for rescuing me as a kitten back in 2011 and for helping me meet my mum! 💚💓

He is easily spooked so would like an understanding owner who will be able to give him the time and patience he needs to settle down. As a rescue kitty I want to help other rescue cats find their forever home, so we are continuing our new weekly feature for Charity Tuesday, sharing adoptable cats from Wood Green, the Animal Charity (which is where I was rescued). We are so grateful to this amazing charity because without them we would never have found each other! It's also one of the main charities we support.

Sooty is a friendly and affectionate cat who likes her independence. She will greet you with a meow when you arrive back home. Sooty enjoys playing with a toy ball, cotton reel or fishing rod toy. She like going out to explore before coming inside to sleep somewhere warm and cosy. If you would like to adopt Sooty, click on her profile to find out more.

Katie sadly came in to the Heydon Centre because her owner passed away. She is a very gorgeous and affectionate little cat who is looking for a quiet and calm home. She likes to be the centre of attention and loves people so would prefer to not share her life with other animals. She also loves her food and likes to sleep the day away in a warm, cozy bed. Adopt A Shelter Pet Month

We are joining the BlogPaws Adopt A Shelter Pet Month Blog Hop to celebrate the awesomeness of pet rescue and to promote pet adoption. 

As we are a UK pet blog we would like to share cats that are currently seeking their forever home at Wood Green, the Animals Charity. For those of you who don't know, this is the animal shelter that took me in as a kitten and looked after me until I met my forever mum. After a rough start to life (I was found abandoned in someone's garden), I was lucky to find the most wonderful loving home where I can do whatever I want (I am named after a goddess after all and so I am worshipped all the time).

Here are some cats at Wood Green that are awaiting forever homes.

Beano

This is Beano and he looks so lovely but a bit sad doesn't he? He is worried about being stuck at the shelter. At 12 years old he just wants to find a loving home and settle down again. He is very homely and needs a home with someone understanding and patient so that he can feel safe and relaxed.

Belle

This is Belle. She is very affectionate and friendly once she gets to know you and loves to follow you around. She enjoys sitting on your lap and the occasional potter outside. Belle would prefer to share her new forever home with adults or older children.

This is Sybil, an independent lady who loves fuss and attention. She likes to chat and enjoys her home-comforts. She always loves to find somewhere cozy for a nice catnap. Sybil is looking for a quiet home where she can spend her retirement relaxing and being loved (and watching birdie TV).

June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month. But why do we need an adopt a cat month?

Adopt a cat should be every day. Yes, I know that Adopt a Cat Month is to highlight the importance of, and to promote and raise awareness for cat adoption. But every animal lover (not just cat lovers) should be aware of the countless animals suffering in shelters as they await a forever home.

Some aren't lucky (spare a thought for those poor souls in high kill shelters).

As most of you know, I am a rescue cat. Mum adopted me from Wood Green, the Animal Charity in July 2011. I was only 10 weeks old. Read our story HERE

But it's not only young kittens who need rescuing.

There are so many adult and senior pets desperately seeking a home too. Imagine what it must feel like for them. Abandoned, unloved, desperate.

Please, if you are looking for a cat, you must consider adopting. DO NOT SHOP.

Remember: ADOPT DON'T SHOP and help spread the word!

My mum has this PET RESCUE board on Pinterest. Most of these cases are URGENT and as I know many of our readers are from the US you may find this board of great help if you are looking to adopt a pet from your local area.
