Black Cat Awareness Month #charitytuesday

October is, of course, Black Cat Awareness Month.

So let's check out these beautiful black kitties who are longing for a forever home!

MITTY

PHOTO: Wood Green

Lovely Mitty is 11 years old and is waiting at the Heydon centre of Wood Green, The Animals Charity (I came from the London shelter!).

"Mitty loves being made a fuss of and doesn't mind being groomed, as long as she is rewarded with some tasty cat milk afterwards! She enjoys pottering around in the garden, but there is nothing she loves more than coming home to cuddles!"

MAX

PHOTO: Nine Lives Greece

Gorgeous Max is just 5 months old and is at Nine Lives Greece in Athens. Can you believe that he was discovered when he was just 2 months old under the hood of a volunteer’s car? When he was found he was a very frightened feral cat so it has taken some time for him to become socialized.

Max is now an affectionate kitty but sudden movements still scare him. I know how he feels because I'm the same. Perhaps most us rescues are?

His forever human should ideally be someone who has experience with cats and is the patient type. Find out more about Max here.

Overlooked cats in Britain

Sadly, there are so many overlooked cats urgently needing forever homes everywhere. Here is a list of UK rescue shelters and charities from the cat rescue resource CatChat.org, with details of harder to home senior cats, black cats, special needs cats, FIV+ cats and feral/farm cats.

Disclosure: I received no compensation for this post. As a rescue kitty myself I want to help other rescues find their forever home, so each week on Charity Tuesday I share adoptable cats from Wood Green, the Animals Charity (which is where I was rescued) and some other charities dear to our hearts. Mum and I are so grateful to Wood Green because without them we would never have found each other! Please note: We are here to help cats and give our time freely. We also ensure that to the best of our knowledge and research other lesser-known charities mentioned are legit.

Of course, Athena is the most beautiful kitty ever, but having a black cat in one's home is just the very bestest! And we have twinsies, and they provide a never ending supply of "which one is that?"...LOL!
