Why We Haven't Been Around Much #CaturdayArt

Happy Caturday!

Hope you've all had a good week :)

Just in case you're wondering why we haven't been around much lately it's because Mum hasn't been feeling very well. Apart from depression and anxiety, she has been feeling very tired lately and experiencing some shortness of breath. She put it down to being stressed but a blood test reveals that she is slightly anaemic, which is nothing new because she's always been slightly anaemic.

Mum has a genetic blood disorder called Beta Thalassemia Trait (also known as Thalassemia minor). This means her blood doesn't form healthy red blood cells. She was born with it, as are many many others in the world (mostly people of Mediterranean descent). As regular visitors may know, Mum was born in England but her Mum and Dad came to England in the late 1950s from Cyprus and are Greek Cypriot (they did not arrive together though, because Grandma and Grandad met in England).

Luckily, Mum doesn't have the more severe form of this disorder as she is only a carrier and so was her late dad. She explains it better on her blog.

The doctor has prescribed Iron pills for her and she is to take them for a couple of months. She's taken them before, quite a long time ago when she got very anaemic. She wrote a bit about this in her memoir.

As Mum didn't feel much like overworking herself, she decided to keep my art simple this week by using the Painnt app. She forgot the effect she used.

Caturday Art

Of course, I have been taking care of my dear Mum and reminding her to take naps with me. I purr and show her love to help her de-stress too. She needs to take it easy and start taking more care of herself.

We care deeply about your Mum and you, Athena. I wish I could wave a magic wand and make her feel better. Make sure she knows I'm always here to talk!

Of course your human needs to take care of herself first, Athena, so she can tend to you. I hope the iron pills have her back to where she should be, health wise.

I am sorry your mum isn't feeling well and has long term health problems. I hope the iron tablets get her feeling better. I know you will do a good job of looking after her and making sure she looks after herself too.
The art is beautiful.

Oh my yes, she needs to rest and take very good care of herself. You make sure she takes plenty of naps and doesn't stress about her website at all!

We are sorry your Mom isn't feeling well. We hope the iron pills are smaller than the ones Mommy had to take when she was pg with Sean, Mommy said she thought they were made for a horse.

Take good care of your Mom.

I LURV this image of Athena!
I took iron pills as a young woman, and through the years, I've kept up some sort of iron supplement. I found that the time-released version didn't upset my system as much, plus the pills were smaller. Some of them are big enough for a horse!

I am sorry that your Mum has not been feeling well. My Mom has not been home a lot and she has been working and Ninja's Daddy is working out of the country. It is a great thing that Ninja and I have each other to keep us company during the day.
We hope your mum feels better soon!

Athena, I love how you look in the art picture. Fabulous. And I hope your mommy can get even more help with that condition she was born with. I am grateful it is a little milder than the worse form. XXXX You are doing well Athena, helping her.

You are such a sweet nurse for your momma and just being beside her is some of the best medicine she could ever ask for. Like your momma, I too have "anemia," but the kitty kind, at least that's what the V-E-T says. So I am not as active and playful as I used to be and I get tired easier. I take liquid drops for that. My mom also has a chronic health condition and like you, she hopes to take better care of herself this year. Hugs.
