#WhiskersWednesday Catio Dilemma

Happy Whiskers Wednesday!

Mum and I would like to thank those of you who took the time to comment on Sunday's post. Mum had been feeling really down and worthless and so it helped her so much to read your thoughts and advice. She is kind of lonely as most of the people in her life have been toxic and she has had to cut them out for her own sanity and well-being. Kind-hearted, sensitive souls always attract these energy-suckers with their negative vibes, don't they?

Anyway, she says she is feeling better and is trying to focus on the good stuff (although it's easier said than done in her case). The new house is keeping her occupied right now.  It's looking pretty cool as you can see from most of our photos lately. The rooms have great lighting for one thing, which results in some quality photos! Before I post some Instagram updates for you today, I want to ask (well, Mum wants to ask) if those of you in the UK have had a catio installed, which company did you hire? A lot of the quotes coming back to Mum have been too expensive and as we said in our post on Sunday, Mum is having a hard time financially with not being in work due to illness. We don't even want a massive catio as our garden is quite small and we want it to be aesthetically pleasing and to look like it's part of the house. If only Mum could do it herself, but obviously she can't. So, UK cat owners (or pet parents, etc) can you recommend anyone?

She is actually worrying about it because she wants me to enjoy some fresh air (now that we finally have it because it was seriously lacking where we used to live.) We get an amazing breeze from the woodland nearby 😻

At least your human and you are lucky that you don't live in the U.S., Athena! We are miserable here and want to move away.

Oh my stars! These photos of you, Athena, are excellent! The lighting has made a huge difference; we can see your beautiful eyes, and the lovely colors of your fur. Glad your mom feels better today.

I hope you get your catio, Athena! You are such a gorgeous girl.

While this company and website is in the US, you might find it helpful. You can purchase a catio template (several sizes available). At least someone wouldn't have to design something from scratch. And if you're handy with a hammer, you could possibly build it yourself. I seriously considered this option for our catio. Feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any questions about it!

Sounds like you're settling in a bit more. I've thought about getting some type of catio for Raven (or doing it ourselves) but I'm not sure it's necessary. We have several windows throughout the house windows that she enjoys lounging at, and that lets her get plenty of fresh air and some good sunpuddles. Athena might be just as satisfied having some comfy perching or sleeping spots at a few of your windows. I'm assuming you have window screens to keep the bugs out and kitty in.

Is it that bad? Or is it just your president? Our Prime Minister and Government are just as bad.

Some parts of the UK are great, we admit. But we wouldn't mind living in the US (in the more northern parts because we hate heat!)

Taking of the lovely Athena always makes me smile.

Thank you :)

Thank you so much for that info. I have found a cheaper option in the UK and I may just go with them. I'm not very good at DIY so will need someone to build it for me. It won't even be a very large catio as we don't want it to look huge in our tiny garden.

Yes, being human can be tough at times.

Thank you :)

Yes, we love it. And the decor is lovely too. We haven't had to do anything to it as it's fine as it is for now.

No screens, but I never leave the window open when I'm not in the room. A small catio would be nice and I would sit in it with her and enjoy the garden more. We couldn't do that in our old house for various reasons.

Thank you :)

No, it is NOT that bad, and neither is our President. Some people need to get a grip here in the U.S., honestly. :(

Love your catio, Athena! My kitties have a small one where our old enclosed porch used to be, but it is set up with all kinds of goodies and creature comforts now! :)

Taking pictures of my kitties always makes me feel better. These are great shots! I understand about the toxic thing ... and I've been bullied in any group of women more than 2 or 3 - the only exception was Cat Writer's Conference earlier this month. I almost didn't know what to do with friends who didn't drain me!

I can't wait to see your catio when you get one and maybe. I wonder if there is a Boys Scout group in your area, like in US, that could put it together for you. Mom says they often need purr-ojects in order to earn badges. And I bet Athena wouldn't mind some extra pampering if they were to come over. Hugs.

You do look exactly as if you are blowing a kiss in that one photo. That would be a winner in any kitty photo contest. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
