National Unwanted Pet Week
"One gift, one pet, one day is all it takes to make a big difference this National Unwanted Pet Week"
Regular readers of this blog and my followers on twitter will know that I was rescued by the wonderful Wood Green the Animal Charity in the UK and Mum and I will be forever grateful to them for helping us find each other.
But the sad fact is some animals are not so lucky.
That's why, throughout this special week, Wood Green is encouraging animal lovers to pledge their support by filling in an I care card like the one below, and/or to donate a day's care to one of the 600 animals at its centres.
I was lucky and found my forever home. I want all animals to have the same! |
From Wood Green. the Animal Charity website:
"National Unwanted Pet Week (NUPW), is a time for animal-lovers to come together and show they care for the nation’s discarded pets.""At any time Wood Green are caring for 600 unwanted pets at their centres, as well as providing
preventative advice and treatments in the community"

It always makes us sad to think any pet is not wanted. But we do believe there is a loving home out there for every animal ... we just have to find them, right?
It makes me so sad to think of all the kitties out there without homes - we need more TNR and low cost spay and neuter (and education) to help solve that!
Mom and Dog Dad contribute to our rescue because we want other Shelties to have the same chance we got.
It's heartbreaking to think of the ones who have no home. That's why our mom not only volunteers but she dedicates two posts a week to promoting special animals - and especially the less adoptable ones. We would fill out an I care card, for sure!

A great cause. So many animals need homes and people need resources to learn how to take good care of their pets.
We are lucky kitties to have such wonderful homes. It's sad to think about those who don't have homes. You are such a great kitty for helping out that organization, Athena! It sounds like a wonderful one.
Our local Animates shop chain in introducing their own Angels programme to adopt disabled pets. Awesome eh?
We always feel sad for the kitties who don't have wonderful homes. Our guys had a rough start in life, but they are truly loved and spoilt now....exactly, as all pets should be!
I hope that your Unwanted Pet Week is able to bring lots of awareness to the situation and help lots of pets find homes. It is great to see you giving back Athena :)
Thank you all for your comments. You are all animal angels! Let's hope we can all do our bit to help our local shelters in whatever way we can. Big or small, it makes a difference!
Purrs xx
